Really similar to a standard cockroach genetically. (Bug type!) It gets some getting used to but they're fun to watch when they're not just being bumps on a log.

And they only live by the water, not in. On shores they can pick up shells/soda cans/whatever to hide their fat squishy asses in.

Mine liked to play/pick the crumbs out of Twinkie wrappers.

My condolences OP, My Crab Rascal passed about a month ago too..

I've raised about 8 in a lifetime, it's really hard to watch them go.. Rascal passed in a molting incident, just didn't make it through it.
