I'm playing Volt White 2 now, and there are two give away pokémon in Castelia city. If I take one, does it count as the "one" for the area and I can't get the second one or the wild one near the tree?

I just started a new game last night after a depressing defeat a few days ago. I was doing great and got lucky running into a few of my favorites and catching them but got wiped out by Lt. Surge. A string of critical Shock Waves knocked out Seymour the Weepinbell and by then Raichu was at +6 Evasion and the rest of my team just didn't stand a chance.

I took the shiny in compensation for Twist.
Not that it really matters because my first encounter on the lake was a vanilla Gyarados

If I did level them up, I'd either stick it in the daycare or just have it as the first in my party.

Hello, friends!
I return with a team that's prepared for whatever's ahead. Crystal went from being a Lairon to being a Tank Engine, and Wallace finally became a Walrein. Right now, everyone is at they're final evo. I also just recieved a Cyndaquil, which I may train in the future in case something REALLY bad happens, but we'll see how it goes from here.
For now, I'm off to the next gym.

As of now, I have officially started a new Nuzlocke, and hopefully it will be the first one that I will be able to finish!

Me and Charles will set out to gather all eight gym badges, and defeat the Elite Four, followed by the Champion.

Rules:
- Standard Nuzlocke Rules.
- Dead Pokemon will be released, not boxed. It makes their death mean something.
- Battle Style set to "Set".
- No using items from the bag during battle. (held items are fine)
- All legendaries must be killed.
- The levels of my Pokemon must not surpass the level of highest level Pokemon of the next "boss" (gym leaders, rockets, League Champ, Mewtwo) (tl;dr: no overleveling) If they do, then they must be boxed until they are no longer over leveled.
- If a party member dies, their death must be avenged by striking down their killer, even if it was a wild Pokemon.

I actually would've used that one, had I waited a little bit longer. Shame on me.
I named him "Buzzkill", and I think that's a fitting name for what will be a humanoid bee that kills other Pokemon, and will generally ruin the day of anyone who crosses him. Anyways, welcome to the team, Buzzkill!

I killed my Rattata encounter on Route 22, and my Route 2 encounter was another Pidgey, so a team of three is what I'll go up against Brock with.

Going to train them all up to level 9 (as to not overlevel), and then take on Blue.

Buzzkill evolved, and is almost at the current level cap.
Sable and Charles are ready to take on Blue. Most likely Sable will just sweep both of his Pokemon and just destroy his Bulbasaur with Gust.

Two more levels of training, and then the first boss battle.

New level cap is 14 (Brock's Onix) and I'm about to go through Viridian Forest. No new Pokemon until I beat Brock and move on towards Mt. Moon.

I took a bit of a break because I found out I was going the entirely wrong way. I had to walk a good hour to where I was supposed to go for the 6th badge. Lucky for me, it was a turbo-easy gym. I just used Basaran the whole time and he sweeped every trainer's team. Time for the next gym...where ever the hell that one is.

Rampage the Magikarp joins the team as the forth member! $500 is not that outrageous of a price for a new friend.

Route 3 encounter was a Pidgey, and Mt. Moon was a Zubat (which I unfortunately killed due to a critical).

Rampage most likely won't evolve, or participate in a real battle, until we near Vermilion, but we love him anyways.

There's a few more trainers waiting to battle outside of Mt. Moon. After I beat them, we're headed to Cerulean!

Charles just evolved into Wartortle. Right now he's two levels away from the current limit.

Rampage is making good progress, he may be able to be used in the gym battle with Misty.

Sable is getting close to evolving, but I wouldn't count on that happening until we get out of Mt. Moon.

I'd say we're about half way through. Wish us luck!

Out of Mt. Moon finally. Caught Chucky the Rattata on the last stretch of Route 4 on the way to Cerulean.

Going to do a little training, then I'm going to battle Blue again.

Also, Hyper Fang is a pretty scary move to have used against you. Took Buzzkill from 100% to near 40% when his foe was a few levels under him. I'm going to predict that the first member to die if any will die to a Rattata, or Raticate.

Whelp guys Ruby here with a second on going Nuzlocke from my first one going on. This time with the name Ran.
This is a Randomizer Emerald run so I can have the chance to get pokes besides Zubat and stupid shit like that; I've started out with a Mantine out of the picks of him, medapod and pidgey... Yeah you know who I'd pick.
I ran around, got some good incounters... sometimes at least but some got killed by me or I ran out of pokeballs but this is my catches so far.
I've beaten the first gym and I'm leveling to take on the second gym so wish me luck guys!
Disclaimer: every pokemon is random, even the gym leaders pokemon so trainers can end up having a level 7 salamance and gym leaders have completely random pokes so Idk what I'm getting into.)
Btw how'd I do on my layout this time?

Grinding to level 80 to fight the dragon type gym. Recently caught stunfisk and barboach on route 18 and some lake, one died while training. Later I caught a garbage bag and zangoose, one of those died.

Going to level them to atleast lvl 77 this are my last patch.

Yeah but hard in a Pokemon Games doesn't mean much.
The fact that you need to put in self imposed rules just to make it somewhat difficult proves this.
They are the third hardest because of the lack of places to grind on pokemon near your level when it gets towards the end of Johto.
Plus the pokemon variety is still pretty fucking ass even in HG/SS.

At least that was the general agreement and hence why I put it in the pastebin saying as much.
If there's a big enough gathering of people who say it doesn't deserve the spot,I can move it.

Went to sleeps after getting Chucky last night. Did a few levels of training (enough for him to learn Hyper Fang) and now we're ready to take on Blue.

Sable should be able to deal good damage to the majority of the team. If needed, Charles can step in to finish the fight.

Just arrived in Azalea Town, haven't fought the gym leader yet but his buddies in his gym were easy enough so it shouldn't be a problem.
Also accidentally stumbled into the rival fight cutscene thing, but the beast and aaron took care of that.
Had one casualty so far, a dead Iglybuff, nothing important.
The egg contains a mareep, I permaboxed the togepi and just took one from the dude with the secret phrases.

From my point of view, the rules are clear: one pokemon for each location, as specified on the status screen of each pokemon.
Both those starters are considered met in Castelia, although I'm not sure about the garden. Only one of them is allowed, or you break the rules, and you're free to do that, but don't call it Nuzlocke.

How else are you gonna decide what consitutes a new area or an already visited one? I go by the status screen, because I don't know any other way to ascertain it.

Took forever to post this due to some bullshit with my computer and the internet, I'm not really sure, but it seems to be fixed now but we're back on track now.

Blue's Rattata killed both Rampage and Chucky, before finally being taken down by a Quick Attack from Sable. If not for Sable, I most likely would've lost the battle. Pidgeotto got good damage off on Charles and Sable before dying, and Bulbasaur was able to put Buzzkill to sleep. Had Bulbasaur not put Buzzkill to sleep, maybe Rampage and Chucky would still be here.

Rampage, Chucky, I'm sorry that you two had to die in this battle. I made the mistake of trying to take on Blue with everyone a little underleveled; I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but it did. Rampage, I'm sorry that you were never able to evolve into a fearsome Gyarados. Chucky, I'm sorry that you were never able to evolve into a Raticate. I failed you both as a trainer, and I failed you both as a friend. Blue's Rattata took both your lives, but Sable was able to avenge both of you. Rampage, Chucky, thank you both for your sacrifice. Without you two, we never would have won that battle, and Charles, Buzzkill, and Sable, your friends, would have died with you.

You guys didn't deserve this. You deserved better than me.

My recent wild encounters went something like this:
Route 24: Weedle
Route 25: Pidgey
Route 5: Pidgey
Route 6: Pidgey

Not going to lie. I'm a little upset. At least I get an assured Diglett/Dugtrio from Diglett's Cave, and one more chance to get something new on Route 11, but I'm saving that until after I beat Misty.

Buzzkill is about to learn Twineedle, which should destroy Misty's Starmie. Taking down the gym trainers should put my team at the level cap, or at least very close to it. (Lv. 21)

I have decided that I will revamp the capture rule. I will have three chances to encounter a new Pokemon on each route. When the first new encounter happens, then that will be the Pokemon that I am able to capture.

Buzzkill destroyed Misty's Staryu, and did about 80% to Misty's Starmie, before having to switch out. Charles was able to finish off Starmie easily with his Bite.

The level cap is still 21, and the next rival battle is Blue on the SS Anne. his highest level is actually 20, but I don't want to decrease the cap, and it's only 1 level anyways

I'm going back to Route 24, 25, 5, and 6 to get in my 3 chances of finding a new Pokemon. After that, we'll roll into Vermilion.

Sunshine was found on Route 24, and Snowflake was found on Route 5. Route 25 encounter was an Abra that teleported away after breaking free of a Pokeball. Route 6 encounters are Oddish, Pidgey, and Meowth; three Pokemon that I already have. Oh well.

Sunshine will be a good addition to the team for type balancing, and Snowflake will be a very special member. Snowflake was the name of my cat that died when I was a little kid, and by giving Meowth the name Snowflake, I almost feel as though, in a way, we've been reunited. I already lost you once, and I don't plan to lose you again.

After some training we're headed Vermiliion City for that awesome party on the SS Anne.

When I started my Fire Red with Bulbasaur I got crit'd in the first battle. I usually just ignore when tutorial battle deaths occur, because it's so early on in the game, and I'd rather not waste like three minutes.

I honestly didn't know this could happen, at least in gen 4 & 5.
More than once it happened to me that a tail whip and a crit tackle would put me in the red, and one attack would be enough to put me down, but the AI would go on tail whipping or growling rather than inflicting the death blow.
I'm amazed. I have actually just been lucky a great deal of times it seems.

Found Jim in Diglett's Cave, and Wumbo on Route 11. Both will make a great addition to the team.

For now, Jim will be boxed, since he's so close to the level limit, and will likely just destroy Lt. Surge, and his gym trainers when that time comes.

Wumbo, and Snowflake will receive good training abord the SS Anne, which will hopefully put them at the level cap.

We're nearing the next encounter with Blue. I plan to avenge Rampage, and Chucky by killing his Raticate. I will show no mercy.

What's the rationale behind that as apposed to dropping a normal type move for some coverage in physical manner, I'm only working with one Pokemon, it has trouble with ground and rock type. Usually defensive. My special move does zilch. They're pretty bulky.

This evolution was actually unexpected and a little surprising. Up until this point I had thought that Oddish evolved at level 25, but I guess I was wrong.

Anyways, Sunshine just evolved into a Gloom!

Did some training by the trainers on Route 11, and just recently entered the S.S. Anne. Almost done with the hallway on the bottom level.

I was thinking that too but for a different reason.
I'm going to need a water type and have to level him up but it's tough since he's so low and the highest level wild pokemon at the moment are in Oreburg gate which are all rock type sans the occasional zubat. Rock Smash would let him beat these guys and level up.

The level cap has been raised to 25 oh my god, one whole level. (Blue's Ivysaur)

It had Quick Attack, but chose to use Double Team instead when I battled it. His Voltorb was the only one to actually do damage, with SonicBoom. After taking that hit, which was a little under 50% of my health, I was a little nervous.

Just posting my progress so far on my White 2 run.
So far I have been doing great, in my earlier runs I never had any reserves up until I wiped out at the final battle with Colress.

Team is looking good right now, all with good natures, only negative natures is a speed drop on Sandslash and Joltik.

Just cleared the Plasma Frigate and heading through Chargestone Cave.

Alright guys Ruby here back again with what is my first Nuzlocke on regular Emerald version and I made it through victory road last night... But sadlly lost 007 to his colorchange into a poison type and a crit earthquake to his death. I then caught a Corssola and trained it up to 50; now I will be grinding up till 60 before I take on the Elite 4... Blue's Gyarados took the life of both Jim, and Buzzkill. Two very prominent members of the team have fallen.

I wasn't prepared to face a Gyarados in this battle, and I certainly wasn't prepared to face one that knew Thrash. The reason they both died was because of the luck factor. Wumbo had set up four Flashes, and it looked like Jim would have enough time to kill it with Rock Slide, but on the switch in Gyarados lucked out and managed to land a blow, doing well over half of Jim's health. Buzzkill was able to get good damage off on him before being killed himself. Without him, we may not have won the battle.

Two brave soldiers fought, and died today. They are forever gone, but they will never be forgotten.

Jim, Buzzkill, I'm sorry that you two had to die so unfairly. It all came down to luck, and the odds were not in our favor. I'm sorry that it had to be you two.

Beat down Roxie no problem, used Work Up twice with Robin then swept her whole team alternating between Extremespeed and Wing Attack, with some Returns thrown in there.

Made it to Castelia and caught a few more pokemon, got lucky as hell with Slapstick and Yoko, lost Hawkgirl to the Plasma's in the Sewers because Hugh is a idiot and wouldn't Bulldoze the Magnemite.

Wondering whether to take one of the starters or just catch something in the Garden.

Nope, not that I recall, felt like it was a simple 493 hack to me, gonna go through it and modify all the mons to reflect Drayano's Sacred Gold changes, then if someone else wanted to modify the teams they could, thats beyond me.

Starting my first ever playthrough/nuzlock of BB. Accidentally crit killed the Starly I first ran into on Route 1. Still pretty proud of the two pokemon I have right now though.

Ok cleared out Battle Company and Castelia Sewers, caught an Eevee in the Graden so happy I chose to do that rather than get a starter.

Evolve Chrys the Electrike into a Manectric, learned Flame Burst doing so, will help out against Burgh, gonna grind everyone to 30 then take on Burgh

Thanks for that advice. I trained Seto and Kenshin to 15 and hit the gym. It was a tough battle and after a lot of luck, flinches, liberal use of potions and Setos Hypnosis the bro of all bros' Meowth managed to solo the gym! It was very touch and go but we did it! It was one of the most intense pokemon experiences I have ever had.

I will update my team when there is something to really update.

Sable would have swept Erika's team had it not been for Vileplume and Stun Spore. Sable was able to switch out at the last moment into Wumbo, who used Hypnosis to put Vileplume to sleep. Confusion was a three hit kill from there.

Now we're going down into the Rocket Hideout to defeat Giovanni and get the Silph Scope.

Kangaskhan was the only one that gave us any real trouble. After a few Growls, Intimidates, and Sand Attacks I was feeling pretty safe though. That thing had Mega Punch, and I was so afraid that it was going to kill at least one of the team, but I lucked out and it didn't.

The level cap has been raised to 40. The next "boss" is Blue at Silph Co, which is a good ways away. After heading back to Lavender Town, we'll blaze a trail down to Fuchsia, and then back up to Celadon, picking up some new team members along the way, and after that we should be leveled enough to take on Blue.

Updating my White 2 run.
Beat Skyla last time with incredible ease thanks to Nappa and M.J.

Few new members were added, caught Nappa and tapped into my reserves to get Powers.

Its hard not having any surfing of flying
pokemon.

Best nature I have found so far, my Chandelure has a modest nature which I am loving.

Elvis hit level 25, and once it evolved i traded it back and forth to white 2 to evolve him. Got a Sun Stone and evolved Comfy, swapped Smugleaf for Amy.

I just made it out of Victory Road. I almost lost Shiggy, again, but he managed to survive. I did my research and the champ has a level 60 Pikachu, so I'm gonna try and get everyone up to either 55 or 60. I'll post back when everyone is there. Before I arrived, I went legendary hunting because why the fuck not? I didn't really need to, but I just wanted to kill some time.

Beat Burgh down easy as, lost Veneno and Slapstick on the way through, had to sacrfice someone to heal up Yoko for her Rock Slide, and Slapstick went down to Leaf Blade from Leavanny.
