Anyways, I would love some kind of different level up system, maybe like a tree or something. You add IVs and EVs to what stats you want, so anyone can be competitive.
If you're still too young to understand what they do, it'll randomize the stats for you.

What the fuck are you talking about? Since when does hating a feature make you a casual? I know plenty about IVs. They're a retarded, tedious waste of time.

How am I being handed perfect Pokemon when I still need to EV train it, teach it the proper moves, make sure it has the right nature, and do all the Pokemon-amie stuff? Since when a is lv1 baby Pokemon perfect?

Also the point? Gee I don't know, different natures? Wanting to try different sets? Trying to fill out the Pokedex? Catching more stuff to trade to other things you don't have? There are plenty of reasons right there off the top of my head.

Except they already sort of did this. All my Pokemon automatically got raised to lv100 in gen 4 when I did a wi-fi match. No grinding needed. So sure, why not?

I did one of those IR matches with a friend and our teams were auto leveled to 50, and I'm pretty sure there were options to have the levels at their normal amount or 100

That's not even close to the same as IVs. Levels are needed to keep difficulty and scaling within the game and to set benchmarks for certain Pokemon to evolve. IVs are just a tedious luck factor added in.

I guarantee X/Y will make breeding even easier, maybe you'll only have 1 or 2 IVs randomized now.

Not if you actually use all the shortcuts the game gives you. It takes an hour or two to get a decent Pokemon if you're not using shitty parents and know what to do.

The only thing about IVs that needs to change is Hidden Power. Just make it all the same BP or make the range smaller and have IVs determine type. Or, better yet, make it both physical AND special, and which one you get is also determined by your IVs.

Well IVs aren't going anywhere, and nor should they. I sympathize with you, but just because you choose to not put the time in the game requires does not necessarily mean the game is at fault and needs to change.

If all breeding was good for were egg moves and useless babby Pokemon, that'd be pretty pointless. Might as well just make egg moves tutored or chosen by the player, make all the babbies catchable in the wild and ditch breeding altogether. You can just Synchronize for the nature you want, so no real reason to breed if you can just catch it, and DW abilities are still attainable in the DW.

Why are people defending the IV system?

Its literately a time check. A randomized time check. Just like World of Warcraft gear.

It has an objective perfect goal, there's no real sacrifice (besides your free time). You either have perfect IVs, or you don't.

It's punishing, not difficult, so the argument "lol u r so casual" makes no sense either.

Consider this though:

In tons of other RPG's, your character's starting stats and the amount of points your stats gain when you level up is random or semi-random.

In Pokemon, you can completely control with relative ease how you build your stats. You don't have to jump through hoops to get that perfect level-up or soft reset until you get that +4 to speed instead of a +2 or +3.

With Pokemon, It's flip-flopped. You spend your time with the RNG when the Pokemon is created and then tailor the stats to your liking.

I would like extra side quests, like "Show me a Flabebe holding a purple flower" or "Please bring me a potion for my pokemon!" and they would reward you with like stones or special healing items, like a pokepie or something you can use in Pokemon-Amie.

Also, I would really like to have a pokemon have a chance to drop their items if they faint, chances could raise if you have a pokemon with a certain ability out.

Additionally if I'm surfing on a Blastoise I was to be surfing on a Blastoise! As well as flying on a Pidgeot! Not some dark blob representation of a fish or bird.

That's not a very apt comparison, considering one can in fact catch 'em all without a whole lot of outside support, the only RNG elements involved being the chance of a pokemon appearing and the chance of catching it. The only outside help required is trading for a few version exclusives

With IV breeding, I have to start the tedious process of only being able to guarantee 2 out of the 6 IVs in the eggs, and then somehow continue the process until I've acquired a miracle pokemon with the IVs I want

And even then, I also have to take into account natures and moves, but trying to get a better chance at a desirable nature means having to give up one of my guaranteed IVs as well as finding a mother with the proper nature and good IVs in the first place, and certain moves will require certain fathers whose IVs I will also have to take into account

And you can easily breed without a whole lot of outside support too, it just takes, you know, time and effort.

And you get 3 IVs AND a nature. Three are always passed down from the parents randomly and a power item guarantees one of them will be the given stat. So really only two IVs are chosen at random, because there's usually one stat you're not going to be using or will be hindered by the nature.

I am so sick of telling you fucks. If you plebs seriously think that IVs will ever be removed then you are sorely mistaken. IVs are necessary for more reasons than their use in competitive battling.

IVs are essential in assuring that no two Pokémon are exactly the same. They are the genes which differentiate my 4 HP/252 ATK/252 SPEED Tyranitar from your Tyranitar with an identical spread.

IVs have various other functions besides being the "genes" that make Pokémon unique. They're essential for damage calculation, deciding HP power/type, giving certain Pokémon unique appearances (i.e., Spinda's spots), and still even more functions.
Even if you're a filthy causal, IVs are necessary to the gameplay in many ways and even if you disagree, it's incredibly easy to just...I don't know...ignore them completely, seeing as they're not currently visible by any legitimate means in game (save the "IV Goy" who will tell you a broad statement that reflects your best IVs and in what stat they're in.)

EV training is something I can do with very little stifling from the RNG. 51 dead gastlies, and I've finished training my special attack.

Natures are a single thing, and with the right parent(ditto, then maybe a second generation mother if you need egg moves) you have a 50% chance of getting the right one. Compare this to 6 separate IVs, of which you can only ensure one.

I don't even use Pokegen. I play on simulators because I don't want to cheat and I'm definitely not going to spend hours of my time carefully breeding a team, just to have it get stomped by cheaters who can do what I did in minutes, or to find out that my team isn't viable at all and have to start the process all over again. I have no problems breeding for PWT or Battle Subway, but battling against other trainers is just bullshit if you're trying to stay legitimate.

Those Pokemon are all good, but they're still worse than the same Pokemon with 31 IVs in each stat. Your Gallade can't take as many physical hits as a perfect one, and they made a perfect one in less time. That isn't fair. Your Heatran can't do as much damage as possible or take as many physical hits as a perfect one, and they made it in less time than it took for you to catch it. That isn't fair. It's the same thing for your Salamence and Starmie. They're beaten by their perfect counterparts for no real reason.

Secondly, who cares if my Starmie can't deal a good physical move? All its there for is dealing with a nasty Garchomp. That's why he's got ice beam and a choice scarf. Not much else comes in to play for the thing. Salamence is much the same, it won't outspeed a choice scarfed Garchomp, but once it's locked itself into earthquake all my salamence is supposed to do is deal enough damage to whatever pokemon they switch in to to make it faint, or at least bring it close. She's fast as shit, and can deal a metric ass ton of damage with her choice band on and her Dragon Claw.

What I'm getting at is that having a Pokemon that has 31 across the board actually doesn't mean that much.
A Jolly, choice scarf, Garchomp that has 31 in every stat will still go down from my Starmie's Ice Beam because all of its EVs went to Speed and Attack, and it, just like every other Pokemon that isn't a fucking Uber, has strengths and weaknesses. The weakness of Garchomp being that it's 4x weak to Ice and always forgets to pack its bloody parka.

Yes. There was one in the advanced generation who bred Manektrike for a living. The only thing was that he or she, I honestly don't remember the gender of the character, was shit at it. Brock, who wasn't even native to the Hoenn region, knew more about his/her Pokemon than he/she did.

Apparently though, you should brush electric types with a rubber brush because metal and fibrous ones make them uncomfortable because the metal ones draw in electricity and the fibrous ones get static-y. Don't ask me why I remember this, but I do. Now I'll be totally ready to take care of a Luxray should I ever find all seven dragon balls.

I actually miss the pokemon ranch thing. I liked watching my Gardevoir and my Luxray not getting along. I like this. We very well may not see the Dreamworld return in this gen, so they might make DW abilities only obtainable through breeding, or extremely rare in the wild. It would definitely give breeders something to do if there were no IVs. Breeding for Nature, DW ability, and Egg Moves keeps most of the sanctity in breeding without the tedium of IVs.

I have a mixed opinion about IVs.

I do like the process of breeding a perfect - or as good as you can - pokemon. It does make it special, shining above the rest.

However the process IS boring and tedious. Also, it means saying goodbye to my Bros that I used to become Champion and... fuck, I love them.

In my autistic mind, I like to think that the "old gen" of my pokes are retiring and training the new, IV-bred and EV-trained pokebros that will take me to glory.

Or that some of them are just the last one. I did the work of getting a Female emboar because my starter was female and I loved that in her, so "new" Emboar is just "Old Emboar 2.0" in my head.

I think every Pokemon should have the same amount of IVs, just distributed differently. That way, no Pokemon has an inherent advantage or disadvantage over other with a higher stat total, but you still have that unique aspect of different stats within a certain species.

Nah. Make it to where you can see the history of the balls its been in. That way you can catch people cheating with unlimited masterballs, or an additonal check that catches if a Pokemon can legally have eggmoves. and if you want, you can revert back to the old ball.

of course. if this is ever implemented, it'll involve a really obtuse way of doing it like trading 100 BP for a one time ball change. Ever additional ball change is 20 more BP. Changing into anything other than regular Pokeballs cost double.

Not really that bad of a comparison if you have enough brain cells left to comprehend that the simile lies in that my Speed IVs would be great but my HP, i.e. my endurance, would be in the shitter. This is because I am a natural sprinter, but, due to my asthma, I can't run for a very long time without having an attack.
