How Zoroark should've been in order to succeed:

>make it look more like Lucario, its very popular counterpart
>make it look more like Shadow the Hedgehog, another fairly popular character that children find cool (>inb4 2edgy4me)
>make its typing look more interesting to the kiddies (Dark/Fighting or even Dark/Ghost)
>make it accessible in B1W1 outside of events and trading (N's Zorua should've been in these games)

Just because you like it doesn't mean everyone loves it that much. Zoroark is an utter failure compared to Lucario. Zoroark isn't even Gen V's mascot anymore, how embarrassing is that? Zoroark's current design and flaws really made it impossible for kids to adore over Lucario.

I don't really see why you want to make it more of a Lucario clone, why you think it 'failing' to be one is bad thing, and why you think Gens should have mascots.

I like Zoroark better than Lucario because it has a much more solid creative base and a very unique ability and playstyle, along with a decent signature move (a bit foolish for a Pokemon based on disguise, but if the jig is up you might as well use it). I don't really like either that much, but Lucario is fairly boring.

Name the mascots for Gen II and III.

I think the point OP wanted to make is that, beginning with gen IV, GameFreak started a "mascot" theme with Lucario.
Lucario was a huge success, being very popular among kids.

In gen V, GameFreak tried to replicate their success with Zoroark. However, Zoroark never attained such a high popularity as Lucario, as demonstrated by the fact that it even got kicked out of Pokémon Smash.

Seriously this new "gr8 b8 m8" fad for disregarding other's opinons is even more annoying than when people were using "edgy" for everything.

I'm not OP and I'm not going to deny that Zoroark would definitely be more popular among kids if it were like this instead. Not that I personally would like it more, but it would be more popular though.

Facts are that Lucario is still popular and Zoroark flopped.

Gen 2 mascot: Lugia, doesn't have a dedicated mascot, though.
Gen 3 mascot: Blaziken

Second, by following the chain of replies, your "news flash" implies a connection between Luvdisc and fighting ability as well as it's popularity with children.
You are again wrong. I stated that, the way children play, Charizard can be an effective pokemon with fighting ability past some OU gimmick pokemon with mechanic that may be more complex for children, such as those that require prediction. By stating this I proved that judging fighting ability is difficult when talking about children.
