It's an offensive type though.
Its super effective against 4 types and resists 4 types. That's pretty perfect but now it has 5 resistances, 4 strengths and 3 weaknesses.

Most of the info comes from the exhibition battles since the demo doesn't provide too much opportunity to use Sylveon on much. I've actually been largely ignoring it because too many people were spreading lies.

And in case someone doesn't know what the Pokebeach leaks said about the type, Fairy is supposed to be SE against Dragon, Fighting, and Dark, resisted by Fire and Psychic, Immune to Dragon, and weak against Poison and Steel.
I feel like there's some shit we don't know yet too, like the strange lack of resistances.

I'm hoping they pared down the type chart while they have the chance and cut down some resistances for other types.

like grass does not need so many, especially that weird resistance psychic has to it. we'll see for sure in 2 weeks when corocoro leaks I guess.

Problem with fire types is that it's weak to 3 of the most common attacking types, AND sneaky stones. Even with an extra resistance I don't see defensive fire types like Torkoal being used more.

I've seriously thought that grass took psychic damage since leaf green. I could have sworn that there was something in the game about grass being weak to psychic attacks and have never questioned it since and I seem to remember always taking super effective damage from psychic types with grass pokemon so I switch them out.

I love how they clearly made bug super effective against psychic in the first gen because psychic was by far the strongest type and they wanted to give the players a reasons to actually try to train a bug pokemon.

It does also make sense as bugs are alive but essentially mindless, you can't psyche out a goddamn bug.

that doesn't explain poison though because I'd be sure that would be right up there on the list of mankind's greatest fears.

Red and Leaf Green were the only pokemon games I played until gen 4 when I went back to play them all.

I don't consider myself a genwunner though. I like all the generations pretty much equally with gen 4 actually being my favorite.
