hmm honestly, I don't really care for the layout of Kanto. And if the in game map was actually more proportional to the map artwork, it would have so much more potential. The routes in between the cities are also narrow and bare. I will respect it for being the region that pioneered pokemon, but not much else

Yeah, nah.

Platinum had the most varied National Pokedex and the most varied amount of environments.

One of the best soundtracks too, but I respect your opinion.

While Hoenn is the best region, it isn't the best gameplay. Same with Sinnoh.

Hoenn > Sinnoh > BW2 Unova > Johto Remake > Kanto Remake > BW Unova > Original Johto > Original Kanto > GSC Kanto
The actual gameplay is an entirely different story though.
