>>13540593Ok forgive me because I'm about to go on a lengthy spiel here.
I don't know why, but I have a lot of "feelings", if you will, when it comes to Gen V. It may be because its the gen I have the freshest memories of, or something else, I don't know, but the characters just seem infinitely more human than those of earlier gens.
Like, Gen IV was pretty cool I guess. They did some pretty important shit. But it just felt so disconnected in a way, you know? I didn't feel anything for the characters. Same with Gen I, Gen II, and Gen III.
Maybe its because for Gen V, GF hired a new translator? And it seems to me that, compared to earlier games, the text is a bit more formal and serious. It doesn't seem nearly as "wacky" as the stuff from, say, Gen I or Gen III.
And for some reason, the environments and NPCs in Gen V lend themselves excellently to furthering that "human" feeling for the protagonists.
And then, I get lots of feelings when I think about Hilbert/Hilda/N's relationship, compared to Nate/Rose/N. It just feels so... sad. Sort of wistful. I always pictured those three as this inseparable trio, mainly because, after the events of BW, Hilbert and Hilda were really the only people N had left. Then in BW2, it feels so sad. N is still there, but Hilbert and Hilda aren't. There's like this big void. And it feels to me that Nate and Rosa are like "replacements" for Hilbert and Hilda, but they've got big shoes to fill. They look at N, and realise that he's like a relic from another era. And they must wonder about how grand the feats of Hilbert, Hilda, and N must have been and how can they ever hope to live up to that?
