They are half right when they say "the death of smogon" or "the end of competitive battling". Just look at how the game has changed over the past 5 gens. It's constantly shifting, adapting, and going new places. Tiers constantly rise and fall.

Pokemon like Politoed go from being NU dregs to reigning OU monsters. Power houses like Tauros and Snorlax go from kings to barely filling niches in their tiers.

So yes, this gen, Smogon will die. It will then adapt and change and form a whole new metagame. This was the weather war era, next gen will introduce abilities and pokemon that shit all over weather wars.

Their rules only apply to their own servers, you can sleep someones entire team if you feel like it on Wi-Fi. You can use your Moody Bidoof all day on Wi-Fi but if you aren't playing on Pokemon Showdown, you really shouldn't care about Smogons rules as they don't apply to you.

the reason DT is banned is because it's overcentralizing AKA run DT or counter-DT or lose. Also, it's impossible to counter 650+ pokémon with 6 pokémon.

Sure at the start of each gen everyone uses the same shit due to the initial period of open experimentation (I still laugh thinking of how many Darmanitans I used to see), but a significant portion of Smogonites actualy prefer using lower tier mons in OU.

I mean, even ignoring the fact that simulators can just be programmed to make your pokémon love you (like they already do), pokémon-amie is just another piece of gameplay that competetive players will learn how to optimize and casual players will never fully understand.

No matter how amie works, the simulator will have a way for the player to choose different amie end results to pop on the pokemon. In the end, it's just an additional customization option for battling depending on how it actually affects gameplay, if it even does at all.

The only problem is that Amie seems to be luck-oriented. You can't realy optimize something that's meant to give a 10% chance of enduring someshit or increasing your CH rate by 1 stage.

Of course, [citation needed]. We don't fully know how it works. I've just seen someone on Smogon suggest that Helioptile only endured the hit because it was a untimely CH (I haven't watched the video, so I have no idea). That would actually be a great idea, but we can't know yet.

The only design I like is Knirp's (AKA pic related), and even then it looks a bit too "robotic". But the concept is cool, especially since we know that the CAP is flying/steel and can learn belly drum (drumming its belly like a xylophone) and that there's a relatively high chance it'll have intimidate.

The only reason the whole "Recover from Status Effects/Survive a KO with 1 HP" was implemented was so that Mega Pokemon wouldn't be punished as hard for having to sacrifice their item slots.

This also invalidates the Pokemon who actually got Sturdy that made them useful.

Also anyone who says "MORE LUCK = GOOD" is just silly. It'll just centralize the game even harder because people will just pick Pokemon who are viable even if Luck fucks them over.
