Digital VS Retail

We know digital has its pros and cons.
But, will you be getting the physical or digital version of X/Y?
I'm currently at a toss. I won't be able to go to GameStop on release, I know that. Pre-ordering online through GameStop.com, well I have to pay an extra $10 to get it on release. So I'm considering digital. Already have an 8GB SD card ready in case. But undecided as of right now.

when I went to gamestop to trade it in they had a special where you got an extra 30% towards pre-orders, so I got an extra 4.50 and traded it for 19.50

I ow 50 cents on my game, I would have payed it off there but I didn't want to break a 50

My local gamestop always has a few people hanging around for the early opening, but we never talk and usually since the games are an October release it's too cold and we all sit in the car waiting for the guy to open the store.

The next closest one, a mall gamestop and closer to my work (which of course decided to move this month) and where I preoredered this time always has a line.

As far as my physical/digital plans, I have X preordered and will be getting Y on eshop at midnight, not sleeping until I can no longer stay awake. For me, pokemon is always in my 3DS anyways. The whole "You lose the system you lose your games" argument really doesn't work when the game is in the system when it is stolen, or the thief also takes your game case along with the system.

there is no manufacturing or distribution overhead and no 3rd party reselling

digital games should retail at the same price or at least close to the price game stores buy them wholesale

Animal Crossing : New Leaf has a save system that writes some validation key to the 3DS each time you save preventing that sort of thing from happening.

If you back up save A, and play the game it creates save B and tells the 3DS to only load that one. The same system will likely be used on XY, especially since the Gateway 3DS piracy device can't handle the save type.

My beef with digital copies is that if something happens to your DS you're pretty much fucked for your games. That's the main reason I'm wary about buying digital for x/y. They really, really need to implement an account system, it's just fucking bullshit how you lose all that money spent if your DS breaks, dies or gets stolen or lost.

Odds are, it'll just have a pamphlet with a code to register your game, something about the torchic distro, and a flyer advertising other Nintendo games. With the 3DS, most if not all instruction booklets are digital ones you access from the home menu, right next to the button that opens your game.

Having it instantly at release is really a caviot and so is spending those 30 min going to the store in the grand scheme of the time you'll enjoy the game.

Just be careful with that shit, son. 3DS's ain't cheap. For me, not having to bring cases everywhere I go or God forbid absent-mindedly leaving one of those tiny cartridges laying around is worth it. Having all my games right in my system has just been such a wonderful luxury.

I can kind of see this but for me I've never carried more than just the game in the system in one outing as I usually indulge in one game experience at a time with the exception of a long trip in which case, I'd be carrying a bunch luggage anyway.
