Yeah, it's a tough choice since there's now over 600 Pokemon but Exeggutor has always been my favourite Grass type, and is probably my favourite overall.

I also really love Scyther, Blaziken and Archeops.

Machop and fucking Omanyte.

Porygon 2 and Girafarig also have the same cry but the latter is sped up and therefore higher pitched.

There are loads more instances of cries being copy/pasted/pitch shifted.

This is only acceptable when a Pokemon is related by evolution.

No. They're doing it wrong. Some pokemons have similar cries but there are some small variations, if they didn't changed this back in gen 2 or 3 then there's no reason to change it now.

They're one of the only things I can conclusively have have gotten worse in every single generation.

Cries are nice because they help give pokemon identities. The 8 bit cries are much more iconic and recognizable than the soulless electric bleeps and bloops from Gen 4 and Gen 5.

I actually really like the gen 1 8 bit cries, I think they are really cool and like you said they are iconic.

But Gen 1 definitely has the more indistinguishable bleeps and bloop cries than the later games, there are only a few that actually sound distinct.

They are finally updating their cries? That's fucking awesome even more hyped! I was just thinking about that in B2/W2 when you encounter old pokemon they sound like shit, Nostalgia or not if you want old noises play the old games. Old cries sound like garbage next to new ones.
