have my audino skill swap its sturdy away, give it regenerator
switch it out for shedinja, entrainment so it becomes immortal, then switch the audino out and throw golem out again for an explosion to wrap things up

Stunfisk and Cryoganal in Black and White

I used both of them, ended up being my MVPs.

Stunfisk's tankiness and goodmovepool can make work of the late game. Cryoganal is one of the very few Pokemon that can go toe to toe with Ghetsis's Hydreigon and Ice being a great attacking type it being very fast, and with most moves leaning towards the Special side late game make Cryoganal a very valuable teammate.

I love how characters in game go on and on of how "ROCK IS A DEFENSIVE TYPE, GOOD LUCK HARMING IT! HAHA" when it has 5 goddamn weaknesses, several common ones even and doesn't pair well with anything for dual type other than bug decently.

Flareon. More specifically, Flareon is easily the best Eevee form in Pokémon XD I'm not even baiting here. Vaporeon gets shit for Water attacks in that game, Jolteon's only special options are Bite and Electric attacks, Espeon only gets Bite and Psychic attacks and Umbreon a shit. Meanwhile Flareon dishes out (possibly Helping Hand boosted) Quick Attacks off 130 base Attack which are a godsend in double battles and can wreck shit with Fire Blasts off a fairly respectable base 95 Special Attack. In XD, most Pokémon get no moves so that combined with every fight being a double battle makes Flareon stand out.

Those are mostly people talking early-game (about Brock and Roxanne) since around there you'll probably have loads of normal and flying moves.
Plus their stats are usually defensively oriented.

I used Flareon, Muk, Shiftry, Gardevoir and Walrein and I don't recall having a 6th permanent party member. Flareon and Muk just wrecked shit together with Helping Hand + Flareon's offensive stats combined with their amazing special defense. It was a really fun playthrough.

Bellsprout and its evolutions.
I have an unevovled Bellsprout at level 47 in HeartGold, and a Victreebell was on my team in LeafGreen. Though available very early in the game, even when freshly caught ,their high attack and special attack allow them to wreak havoc with Vine Whip and the likes. Later in the game, Sleep Powder allows them to set up Sunny Day, and then to plow through entire teams with Solar Beam, disregarding resistance.

Also in HG, my under-levelled Vaporeon beat Lance's team almost all by itself with just Aurora Beam (and a few Blizzards; though without a good deal of luck and enemy attacks missing at opportune times, it would not have worked).

Porygon and Gardevoir are excellent special sweepers in single player. I got a Porygon in Platinum and I always needed to hold it back lest it outlevelled all the rest of my team, because it could shoot down a bunch of different enemy types and even heal itself in between.

Ralts has a very slow start, but once it starts evolving, its Psychic and Thunderbolt are unstoppable.

All Umbreon does is soak up damage and maybe throw out a few Toxics or Confuse Rays here and there, which is fairly useless when every fight is a double battle where you're better off just instantly KOing high priority targets than wittling them down with percentage based damage. Umbreon is mediocre at best competitively and garbage in-game.

In competition it's mostly use as a special wall/wish-passer/other supporting roles, while in single player it works perfectly well as a bulky sweeper all by itself.

It was gen 1's steel type.

Golem/Rhydon was pretty much necessary on every team thanks to that Normal resist. Been downhill for both ecer since though.
