I don't think he wanted it to have a Morning/Day Human-forme and a Night Werewolf-form. I think it was just the fact it was a bipedal humanoid wolf that appealed to him.

I know not everyone likes the idea of inanimate objects as pokemon, but ever since fairy types got introduced I thought it might be cool to see some toys being used as pokemon. Like a Nutcracker or Building blocks type things.

He's based on a gargoyle, with his rocky appearance and from what his Pokedex entries mention. Same time also based on generic Western Dragon.

Then yeah add Salamence scheme colored with Crayola and you've got 10 year old boy appeal material.

That being said why the fuck don't we have an Eastern Dragon yet? Most we've got is Rayquaza, but his design is far from looking like one and his origins are all mushed together from myths and legends I hardly consider it as an eastern dragon. (and no dratini and dragonair are serpents)
