It's for kids. 3D on the 3DS is for ages 6 and up so might as well buy the 2DS and save $40 that kids can use to buy X and Y the same day.

They seem like the perfect thing to buy so you can trade pokemon with yourself if you are over 30 and none of your friends will buy a 3DS.
