Was nintendo desperate after the Pii-u failure or something? Anyways, my thoughts on the 2DS and X/Y.
1) I don't care for 3D, never have, 2DS wins out on this.
2) 2DS doesn't flip and has no hinges, being 28 I grew up on the original gameboy so it's actually a bit odd seeing a non-flipping portable for the first time in nearly 15 years since gameboy color and the first gameboy advance. Yet, at the same time I loved the flipping to protect the screen from scratching, so I'm not sure how I feel about all this.
3) I'm too used to the handheld button ergonomics we always had with controls closer to the lower end, even with the original gameboy it was like that, having them up near the middle and higher seems wierd. I also don't own anything like a kindle or tablet so I don't hold any electronic device like you would a 2DS.
4) 2DS wins out on pricing, doesn't automatically it wins, though.
5) I haven't seen any pokemon/3DS bundles yet for america, but there is one I'll grab it. If there is a pokemon/2DS bundle I'll pick that up instead. However, if there is no bundles at all then I'll purchase a 2DS and X/Y (undecided which version still)
