Just make the white on the inside(?) of the eyes 2 pixels (add an extra on top)
I like the sprite, decent colors and tolerable shading. Maybe try some different skin tones? A different skin tone would completely change the way the sprite looks.

Then don't make angry eyes, it works on concept art because its not limited to very few pixels. Also don't make his face that much darker because of the hat, that only makes it look even angrier.
Other than that its pretty great.

I fail to see anything wrong with the eyes as they currently are.
