It's because of the nature of a Nuzlocke run, actually. The trainer becomes attached to his/her Pokemon because you're forced to use them (since you can't choose what you encounter), and you give them nicknames, making them special to you. They could die at any time, though and you don't want that to happen because you've grown attached to them. If you're making a comic, you want the reader to feel this same attachment. But how do you do that? Would the reader feel such an attachment to a creature incapable of human speech, depicted in the comic as doing little other than fighting? No. Which is why they talk. It makes them feel like normal characters, displaying emotions, and acting human. This makes readers attached to them, and causes their deaths to be emotional for the readers in the same way it was for the writer/player.

I actually found it slightly more stereotypical than "muh diversity" tumblr-tier stuff. Like considering what she bases her Pokémon off, Lillipup being scottish because it's a scottish terrier, Darumaka and Sandile being mexican/latino because they live in a desert, Woobat being a goth because it's a bat, etc.

Not the guy you're replying to, but I've read it and the artist turns a considerable amount of characters into gays/lesbians/etc. There's no real problem with it, but it isn't needed neither.

The first. On another side, one of the things I liked about Nuzlocke's White Hard Mode was that Burgh wasn't the typical gay that everyone potraits, and instead he was an attention-whore. That was a nice touch.

Now back into Myths of Unova, I like the rest about the comic.

But as for the characters, you raise a good point. While I understand a lot of people see Burgh as a bit flamboyant and draw conclusions that he's gay, I avoid that kind of headcanon and I can't understand why the fuck she made Skyla a lesbian. That rustled my jimmies a right treatWhat made it worse was that Elesa wasn't her fiancée. And I agree with you, forcing these kind of themes into a game that's supposed to be more light-hearted is awkward.

My ideal option is to start with pure action with a trainer battling cynthia for the championship but failing, while Rowan is in the public and talks a bit about the Pokémon world on that enterview for Jubilife TV. The character will be more out of focus, preparing his clothes while he watches the TV.

Why not just start with the Red Gyarados documentary? Like have some people hiking to the Lake of Rage, filming everything and searching frantically for the red Gyarados, then in one panel show the protag and Barry watching said documentary. The whole random-trainer-fights-the-champ is like something straight out of the anime.

Jutopa's Blue Nuzlocke starts being shitty and full of memes, but trust in me: once it gets good, it gets GOAT tier. The guy's objective was to improve, and hell he did... BlazeDGO had 3 nuzlockes. Platinum, FireRed, and HeartGold. Platinum was his original one, which gave some background information. It was alright, but it ended early. FireRed was after Platinum. It was his best Nuzlocke. That shit was great. After FireRed came HeartGold, which ended up being pretty good, but not as good as FireRed. Blaze eventually quit the comic and wrote out a summarized ending, which in my opinion sucked. But definitely give his FireRed a read.

I'd suggest Pitch Black Nuzlocke as well, too bad the author dropped his balls around the third gym - but he made notes of it showing what happened until the end

Hey guys, it's me again, the guy who will do a nuzlocke comic which probably will be shit but I don't care. I have some things on mind but I prefer /vp/'s opinion first: considering it'll be Platinum, and it'll be a serious run (but not very dark at the beginning, I guess, just "serious") how should the prologue be? I want it more like an intro, with either Giratina (like in the Platinum intro) or the protagonist (like most of Nuz, and also to introduce him) at the final panel, but none in-game event yet. More like, a game background thing.

How would you like to read that kind of intro?

Maybe something like kind of "ancient" panels showing all of the ancient pokégods like ho-oh, lugia, kyogre, groudon and rayquaza in a sort-of mythological manner, all of them showing the different events of humanity (eg. ho-oh resurrecting the johto dogs, kyogre and groudon battling, original unova dragon battle and split, etc...) ending in a panel with cyrus looking at a giratina panel?

The big ideas will come to me while I play the actual game, but for now I have in mind some things about the whole Knowledge/Emotions/Will with Cyrus' backstory and other symbolic shit over the protags and, at the same time, over Giratina. I think I can put the silouettes of the lake trio flying over different places from sinnoh in the prologue panels.

I also follow Lanwalkers, it's awesome. The already recommended Myths of Unova is ok, but not as great as they make it out to be in my opinion. I can't stand the protag very much. I'll never understand why /vp/ always reccomends "In black and white", it's the very definition of 2edgy4u. And they destroy aLL the characters.

...what. The only shipping the comic has is with the mons. There is no human shipping in it, unless you count the protags parents. If it had Bianca/Cheren I would be all over it, but inf act you can see sometimes hints of how much the author likes White/Cheren.

I didn't know that little bit. I haven't read her Sinnoh comic, just the Unova one. I know the protag is Dawn/Roark's daughter.

I usually don't mind this stuff if it's done well. The Crystal part is stupid simply because of timelines - gen IV happening at more or less the same time is one of the few things we know for sure.

It's a bit harder when you have to do it for 6+ characters and none of them can speak though, especially when their environment is always changing and there's only one permanent speaking-character to interact with throughout the entire story.

Yeah, but the nuzlockers aren't half-decent writers. I think it's needed to have them talk in a nuzlocke made by someone who is just a rookie yet. At least until the autor improves enough to do what you wrote.

It's not actually that edgy, its story is just a bit dark. The guy doesn't talk because of past traumas and he recovers the hapinness slowly by traveling with pokemon. The comic brings an interesting story about the Team Rocket and the characters are well developed and there are funny moments too. The art is great, the battles are creative and the comic is the complete opossite of what you would call "mainstream".

I think the original and the Oh, Gosh platinum one (posted earlier in this thread) are among the funniest without overdoing it. hale's emerald is also pretty funny (in my memory at least, it's been a while).
