You could release pokemon in Emerald and have the species start to show up on the nearest route after releasing a certain amount.

My younger brother came up to me one day and told me that some kid in school told him that in Pokemon BW, if you beat the elite 4 10 times in a row, walk outside of your house and fly, you can fly to Kanto and catch Rayquaza.

Sorta related but don't worry, "that kid" at the playground still exists.

Kids in primary school said that if you'd bring Kurt a Silver Leaf and Gold Leaf in GSC he'd make you a GS-Ball wich could summon Celebi in Ilex Forest.
I got a Silver Leaf somehow. Never managed to get a Gold Leaf though.

Among the many I've encountered in primary school, the one that infuriated me the most was when my best friend's older brother told me that you could catch a Gengar on the topmost floor of Lavender Tower. The conditions were that you had to have plenty of items like calcium, iron, protein, etc. in your bad. I don't know how long I spent walking around waiting for a Gengar... probably until GSC came out.

That was a very common one. I think the first time I heard that one was on Crystal.

Also, I heard someone say that pokémon from the bug catching contest could run away from your party, and then you'd run into them in the wild with their nickname, but leveled up.
