Hey /vp/, take a break from X/Y hype and "YOU WAKE UP AS THIS POKEMON" threads and let's have a more unique discussion:
The Japanese competitive metagame.
From my VERY LIMITED understanding, the competitive Japanese metagame is far different from what it is over in the Smogon-dominated western area. In the Japanese metagame, battles use Nintendo's official ruleset for tournaments, which means: battles are done in stadium format, item clause, species clause, evasion is allowed, "mythic" Pokemon are banned, soul dew is banned, OHKOs are allowed, and so on. Sometimes they'll host tournaments where no Pokemon are banned and allow free reign as long as the clauses are still in effect, such as JAA back in the days of Gen 3.
And that's all I know. I want to read deeper into how the Japanese metagame handles things. How do people handle double team spammers? How do they handle brightpower-holding sand veil faggots with double team in the sand? How do they handle these things? Please, if you have deep knowledge of the metagame, perferably from actually playing it, I'd love to hear your opinions. In fact, on that subject, what is Smogon's Japan equivalent?
