ITT Quick Ball appreciation

Honestly I've caught a lot of Pokemon with this. People are so used to the "weaken it first" idea that they miss out on using this item.

I used quick balls in Platinum to capture the roaming legendaries. First I weakened them, and put them to sleep. If I couldn't capture them before they woke up I would let them escape. The next time I encountered them I would chuck a quick ball at them. I worked pretty well.

"Harder" would have to actually require a measure of skill. Pressing "use" for a Poke Ball and waiting isn't any more or less hard than doing the same thing for a Dusk Ball.

Harder just means more difficult. Regular poke balls have lower catch rates. By using an easier method of catch mons, it's like playing a game on easy setting where you deal more damage making it easier to beat it.

I do this. The regular poke balls are the most common thing to see Pokemon caught in (mainly because they're forced onto every hatched mon), so I try to use anything that isn't the regular ball when I can.

Personally, I've always thought that the heavy ball from Johto had a cool design. As far as regular balls go, I'd probably go with the great ball.

Except in games with easy/hard mode, you generally have to use different strategies/think analytically/be more conservative with items/ect to not fail in hard mode. Yes it requires more work, but it is neither thought-provoking nor intellectually challenging. Buying 100000 pokeballs then pressing the same button 100000 times is just boring.

But you left out the catch rate of the ball. Throwing a ball is the same but the quality of the ball is what makes it difficult. Using a ball with a higher catch rate is just an easier way to do it.

Like most balls, it depends on the Pokemon. I caught a Sigilyph in a Timer Ball and it looked great. Dive Ball has a neat animation but it would look strange on Pokemon that aren't blue or water types. It just depends.

Just going to jump in this argument here.

Since catching Pokemon is really based on luck and not skill, it is unfair to compare it to an actual difficulty setting which tests skill and not patience. I understand that the catch rate of the ball makes it more difficult in the sense that you have to be in battle longer which drains health and items but honestly all you have to do is afflict the Pokemon with paralysis then switch into a defensive wall then start chucking balls. You do that regardless of the Pokeballs only final destination rule.
Taking longer to catch a Pokemon doesn't always equate to actual skill. Facing a boss with 1000 HP and 15 attack is easier than a boss with 100 HP and 500 attack.
Artificial difficulty can (key word here is can) be considered a difficulty level and yes it (unfortunately) is common nowadays but there is a reason it's called artificial difficulty instead of natural difficulty. Natural difficulty is pretty much only possible when facing trainers, not when catching Pokemon.

Same here. Its so over used throughout the entire franchise and generic that I actually hate them.

For example the animu is like 600+ episoides. How often do you even seen any one use at least a Great or Ultra ball? Its just so abundant and generic I can't stand it.

Using Poke Balls on legendaries is just retarded, you're just making it unnecessarily difficult and you will probably use more money because you're using more balls.

Save beside legendary. Quick ball and reset until caught. Normally only takes 2-4 times. So much better then battling those cocks suckers. I've never liked legendary pokemon but I feel duty bound to collect them when it isn't too much trouble.
