Why does one HeartGold cart go for FIFTY FUCKING DOLLARS USED at every Gamestop I go to? It doesn't even include that oversized pussy-repellant pedometer nobody gave a shit about. Every other Pokemon game, even Black and White 2, go for $30. What gives?!

Guess my poor student ass will have to settle for a choppy emulated version. Is the game honestly worth $50, /vp/? (I originally wrote /pol/ there by accident lol, I frequent that board waaay too much...)

No shit it's overpriced, used games are always cheaper on the internet. I can get SoulSilver for £20 on Amazon, and games are usually cheaper in the USA already, plus that was with about a minute of searching; no doubt there's cheaper deals than that.

Personally I would say that HGSS is worth about as much as the best pokemon games. I mean, it gets a lot of undue hate and the game IS really good if you can get past the biggest flaws of some rare shitty music moments and the level scaling (which is still better than GSC, at any rate)

Out of any pokemon game, it probably has the most things to DO in total, so if Johto is important to you, I'd say it's worth the dough, because it's not like the price is going to go DOWN any more from this point onward.

The great irony being that in the time it will take to hack it, We'll already have every pokemon, move, area, stat effect, etcetera and so forth, catalogued down to the barest minutiae, just for having played the game for that long.
So what's the point?

You can either buy the game now, or miss out on all the fun when it's finally hacked.
And you know the moment it IS hacked, it'll be another five to six years before a working emulator is made

This is true, kind of. It might take another year or two for the 3DS to be hacked, and that's wishful thinking. Then there's the time it takes to actually make a decent enough emulator or a card for the 3DS. By the time XY can be emulated, we'll already be on the verge of Gen 7 or it'll be out already.. Although, by that time, I guess people would just emulate Gen 7.
