It's okay, but when I rewatched OS it was just as stupid as BW. AG and Johto were unimpressive. DP is the best out of the series by comparison and it's not like the entire series should have Oscar-tier writing to begin with as most of the Sonic-tier autistic fandom claims it did during OS or whining about 'chemistry' over a character-based show.

I don't think anybody is claiming it ever had fantastic writing, but the series did devolve from being an acceptable adaptation of a game franchise, to being literally the same thing over and over again over the course of it's duration. Ash was a shitty little punk at the beginning of OS, and by the time it ended, he was noticeably a different character, which is a type of progression that hasn't really happened since.

The anime was the main reason the games took off in the first place, Red and Green only had moderately good sales in '96, then later exploded in popularity after the show started airing; it clearly did it's job and was good enough to attract people to the games.

I've watched every series from the beginning and I can say for a fact that is complete bullshit.
People complain about Ash not retaining his character development/accomplishments from season to season, while this is true he does change drastically from the beginning of the seasons to the end of them.

It's not subjective that Ash doesnt evolve as a trainer, or that Team Rocket are boring characters that get overused to show the pokemon of the week on an impossible victory.

Team Galactic actually did shit. They stole stuff successfully. They assaulted people and Pokemon. They blew shit up.

He did evolve as a trainer in the original series, or at least during Kanto and the Orange Islands. Watch the first few episodes of the series, then compare that to the Johto league or the final Orange Island battle; he was noticeably different.

I do. We're discussing that fictional show, though, and the development of its main character. The point is that Ash at the end of DP is a much stronger trainer than he was during Johto, so he clearly developed along the way, contrary to what anon claimed. That's why BW is such a fucking travesty.

Yeah, he got as competent as he should have been at the Kanto League, what a progress. I didnt "take" a Darkrai to defeat Ash, the writers were too lazy to thing a good combat (well, the writers of this show are so lazy it surprises me they breathe) so they made a stupid excuse.

No, he wasn't, all they did was tic his final position in the league up one notch. He was exhibiting nothing skill-wise that he didn't already use during the Johto league, and Paul was never demonstrated to be a better trainer than Gary, the person that he beat during Johto.

Didn't Ash lose to Gary at the very end of AG, just to turn around and tie with Paul a few episodes later? That's so fucking dumb, they should have made Ash lose to at least make it appear that Paul was as large of a threat as Gary was.

Then again, Paul lost a fucking lot in DP. Cynthia, Brendan (who again, Ash had defeated the series before), tying with Ash during their first battle; Gary's first lost was to a fucking demigod, and he was always pretty quick to remind Ash of how far ahead he was in pretty much every way.
