So /vp/, in celebration of Pixelmon fucking finally getting the original 151 done (+ a few randoms) I thought I'd reinstall it and have some fun being a Pokemon master in Minecraft.

So my question is this, what does /vp/ as a whole think of Pixelmon? This is the place for everything Pokemon after all.

Sure buddy.
Pixelmon is essentially a MC mod based around bringing the Pokemon games into a fully 3D procedural game world. Every Pokemon will eventually be added into the game,where it can spawn and be caught.
As a player you can do everything you would normally do in Minecraft, but with the addition of the entire battling system of Pokemon and the ability to create shit like Pokeballs and shit.

In short I thought it was a pretty tits idea.

I remember seeing the original thread on the minecraft forums and the post said they were only going to do the first gen Pokemon. I lost all interest in the project immediately, guess I just haven't read anything else on it.

Well fuck, you wanted an explanation of the mod.

I've been playing it for the past few hours in survival and it seems pretty decent. Of course you've got the usual retarded shit, like an Onix I found that was at the top of a hill, sitting on a single dirt block, but overall I've found it to be pretty cool so far.

Oh and it's fully operational with modded servers, so you seem to be able to legit trade-evolve 'mons and battle friends and stuff.
There's no battle animations yet though, which is homosexual in the rectum.

From what I can see, distribution works somewhat how you'd expect, with certain pokemon spawning in certain biomes. So you get Sandiles and Trapinch and shit in desert biomes, and Scythers and lots of other bugs spawning in jungle biomes.
Along with that, there's an extremely small chance of a legendary spawning in a biome, or a pseudo like a Dratini spawning in it's natural biome.

What seems really interesting to me personally, is that with Mojang working towards releasing new biomes sooner or later, there will be even more variety in where pokemon spawn, so you don't see fifty fucking ground types all at onces in a desert.

They should really just make it so that you have ender pearls + a dye to make a pokeball, and just use different combinations of iron + redstone for the computer/fossil machine instead of adding a huge amount of bullshit.

This is the problem with minecraft mods.

Agreed somewhat, though I'd rather just be able to make my pokeballs out of everyday materials instead of having to nearly die by Enderman for every pokeball. Maybe you could get Ultraballs that way?

Also for anyone intrigued, Pokemon in the mod all have genders, rarity, shinies, boss 'mons (really tough fuckers that are worth a ton of xp), and my favourite feature; sizes.
Every single pokemon can spawn in several sizes, from pygmy all the way up to giant or higher I think.
The first time I found a pygmy meowth was the greatest moment of my life in this mod.

It's never been simpler man, download the new forge and it literally does all the prerequisites for you. Once it's done installing and you open the Minecraft launcher just click on the profile thing on the bottom left and change it from your username to 'Forge'.

Then download the latest Pixelmon (2.3.1) and follow the instructions. There's a video showing you how to put the folders into the right folders if you're that retarted.

oh and as far as commands go, if you just wanna check out all the pokemon, just go into creative and type '/pokespawn *pokemon's name*'

Is there a way to make a realistic depiction of the pokemon world in Minecraft? Mainly, not having ten pokemon per chunk, but a few common pokemon within the visible spawning distance and a rare instance of uncommons every so often?
