A secondary thing to do with your pokemon aside from battlan like contests, that is more than just one thing, like a combination of all the best activities from past games into one thing
Actual puzzles and secrets and dungeons and shit in the world for post-game
No more Cut
A phone with apps instead of having a billion fucking key items that do simple shit
A giant casino, fuck the children
A hand-written contract that states that the person who came up with event legendaries will commit sudoku
A bar/inn-type deal that replaces join avenue, as a place you can hang out, instead of a long sterile road with shops neatly arranged like a shitty mall, and people that pass through occasionally might tell you about secrets and dungeons and shit you haven't done
Cities that feel like hubs, instead of shit being spread out everywhere and most towns just making you feel like a wandering vagrant
Shadow pokemon and snagging brought back, possibly in a post-game story, because that was really neat in colloseum
Either less focus on Gyms and Badges, or actual puzzles in Gyms
A long, arduous trial to be able to get a mega stone for any given pokemon

Big immersive cities with alleys and sewer system you can explore and find city Pokemon. High mountain routes that you find rare flying Pokemon. Diving should be back with underwater caves to find creepy water Pokemon. You can have leading Pokemon follow behind you, ride it if possible. Trainers Pokemon is randomly generated. No stupid ass triple battles. Another sevii islands thing. You get to talk with a main character from the anime or another generation and fight with them against team flair. At some point you should get taken and our Pokemon are taken away, you have to sneak around to get them back and battle, if found you start over having to sneak around again. Instead of elite four you have the anime style league. We've gets a normal evo to make a more mature eevee. Large/diverse randomly generated side quests.

more post game stuff really. i usually just stop playing after the E4. maybe something animal crossing-ish. You get a cabin/raunch where you can grow berries, breed pokemon and play mini games.
