If Ash were to use his most powerful reserves (Charizard, Snorlax, Sceptile, Infernape, etc.) at the beginning of every new region...would they get the Pikachu reset treatment?

Anyway, I think reset is only effective on Ash and Pikachu.

No, that's why they don't do it. They have to have Ash "struggle" to beat less-experienced trainers to make his journey more "interesting".

But personally, it would have been hilarious to see Ash absolutely rape Trip, for instance, with a team of his best. The whole "I HAF TO GIT STRONGER TO BEAT X" is utter nonsense...just destroy them with your reserves Ash it's not rocket science.

I'm gonna break the mold here and say YES, the writers don't give two shits about consistency and if they want to give said CoTD or whoever plot armor, Ash will lose regardless of who he uses, or if it makes any sense.

Yeah, and Chikorita got destoyed by Charizard, which caused Casey (IIRC) to run away and cry. She later used it again against Ash's Pikachu, and with Misty/Brock encouragement..was able to give Pikachu a run for it's money before TR came.

On a mostly unrelated note what the fuck happened to Pidgeot? He never came back for him and he was one of the most loyal pokemon he had and he was pretty strong as well.

Actually the GS Ball was supposed to contain Celebi and be important but the fourth movie was supposed to contain Celebi so they had to change it and so they gave it to Kurt where they hoped the viewers would forget about it

Same thing as Primeape.
They "wrote him off" by giving him a purpose but kept things open for Ash to get him back, but then never did.

Oddly enough, Primeape is shown with the rest of Ash's Pokemon in OP's pic, but not Pidgeot. Maybe it died like Butterfree.

Why can't Ash just stick to one solid team like almost every other trainer in this show does. I mean if he focus on:

Pikachu
Charizard
Sceptile
Snorlax
Heracross
Infernape/Krookodile/Glalie

He would have been a more successful trainer than he is now.

Thank you for mentionning him. People always forget how he did in the Hoenn league (This include the writers)

Used in pretty much all matches, only lost to a Misdreavus's Destiny Bond and a Sceptile that he KO'd at the same time.

He and Grovyle beat a Quilava and a Charizard for christ sake. And yet, we will never see it again.
