5 percent encounter rate isn't bad. I've dealt with one percent before and that's Not that bad either. It's been two and a half hours and I've only seen One of these things. That's less than one percent. I'm about to have to sleep. I was hoping I could wrap this up for who ever is still following this shit thread.

Since I'm replying with my phone I can't directly quote to respond. But I got my information from bulbapedia. Basically there are trees with caterpies and every evolve state and egxecutors. Then there are trees that only have caterpies and pinecos. Well that's what it says. So basically I'm in ilex forest checking every tree.

You should stick to a tree if you see a Pineco there - they only appear in certain trees and it's better to stick to the one that has them, even if they self-destruct.

Near as I can tell, the locations of trees containing rare Pokemon vary. So while one player might find tons of them in Ilex, others might find jack shit. Same shit with Heracross.

Game Freak's little way of saying fuck you, I guess. Try trees on Routes 26, 27, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 or Azalea Town and Lake of Rage. If you don't find it after like 10 minutes, move to a different location and try again.

Here's a metapod at the tree I saw a pineco. According to bulbapedia that's not possible.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they stopped making pokemon stupidly hard to find after they reached the pinnacle of "fuck you" with Feebas. Only found in 6 ever-changing fishing spots over a huge-ass route, then needs to be evolved by maxing out beauty, of all things. That was some shit.
