Hey guys, they just announced a storage system called Pokemon Bank.

So if I'm understanding this right, you have to pay an annual fee to use it, and the amount of pokemon you can keep on the local game will be limited.

They didn't say how limited, though. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now and assume they don't mean "more limited than the storage in past games."

Don't you need Pokemon Bank to use Poke Transfer?

It goes from the game to the bank, then from the bank to XY. It's the "middleman" but you need it.

The only complaint is if the annual fee applies to when you transfer Pokemon, if not i applaud Nintendo for getting money via a non necessary program that adds nothing of value to normal players.

From what I understood I have to pay to transfer my gen V Pokémon to gen 6.

The games have always had enough boxes for you to keep 1 of each kind, and 2 more boxes. So it should be the same this time.

most likely will still be 24 boxes. the main purpose of pokemon bank is really cross-gen transferring.

It adds some value in that if you lose your game, some of your event Pokemon / old bros wont be lost.

Also, it might make trading Pokemon between games incredibly easy in the future.

I would wait until the price point/how often you must pay a fee before I judge. Also there might be another way to transfer your pokes between gens 5/6 and you probably still have in game storage.

I don't buy that because cross-gen transferring is a staple of the series and it has never needed pokemon bank.
