The first Humble Indie Bundle had a 25% piracy rate according to the creator, and all you had to pay was $1 to get all the games forever. Curious about how it decides on hacked Pokemon. Every Pokemon I have is legal but I used a fake GTS sender to acquire some of the event Pokemon I missed out on that could only be obtained at events for my Pokedex.

I got the exact specific event Pokemon I missed and not just a random Celebi though so It should be fine I imagine. If not looks like I'll have to hope they do lots of X and Y events for old event only pokemon.

This is a false analogy. For the first time, we have a handheld that has onboard data storage. You understand what this means? It means you could easily have an app that pulls out Pokemon from Gen V games, store them on the 3DS and then transfer them later to X+Y.

Transfer could EASILY be free this generation. At least in the other gens there was no practical alternative to using link cables/other consoles, this is the first time they are charging to transfer when it COULD EASILY be free.

I got my DS Lite when it was the newest handheld... & got my 3DS when it was the newest handheld.

They're solving a problem that didn't exist. We're talking about transferring through HANDHELD games, we could ALREADY store our Pokemon for generations to come; by transferring them from game to game. Handhelds are the one platform where using the cloud makes no sense; at least with home consoles/PC if I'm not home I can use the cloud to access my data, a handheld by its nature can be taken out of the home anyawy.

If anything I like that it costs money, given that it has a free trial for early players anyway. All it will do eventually is stop people from transferring their hacked all 31 mons from gen 5 without going through the paywall.

It's entirely possible that you couldn't transfer directly from gen 5 to 6, requiring the need for another service as a holdover.

Okay, woah there spunky. The DS cart is actually incapable of writing to the 3DS's OS's memory, because there is no function like that in the technology for 3DS cards. They can certainly send data TO the game, ala Dream Radar and the Unova Link, but that's only because they're using the game's ability to connect and communicate with other systems.

That's how backwards compatibility works; it has the internal workings for a 3DS AND a DS built in. In other words, Unova Link works by tricking the software into thinking the 3DS is a second DS.

But it can only go one way. Notice you can never send data BACK to Dream Radar. It is physically impossible for a DS game to write to a SD card in a way a 3DS can read.
