I enjoyed it more than Explorers and Rescue Team to be honest, and it's the first thing in pokemon history to actually have a good story (Explorer's was just ok. Still excellent by pokemon standards, but just ok by general story standards)

The only as close to as possible OBJECTIVELY bad thing about it is the text speed. It's not a problem big enough to kill the game, but it's kinda annoying every now and then, especially when the story is a bit more boring.

Overall it's a very pretty game, it's not as good as Sky imo, but it's definitely worth getting. It's prettier and has about as good story, but is waaay more casual. You have a "team" attack that pretty much instakills everything making monster houses a piece of cake. And since they removed hunger and sped up healing you can heal by just running around EXTREMELY fast with no drawbacks.

Overall it's worth getting, but don't expect sky.

The first third was character building and to get a sense of being a "rescue team" before the main story kicks off. It's not good necessarily but I don't think it's as bad as everyone says.

And the whole story seems to rely on the persons opinion on your companion, I liked him, so I guess that's why I loved sky.

It's really the risk of having only one main character (aside from 'you', of course) since the enjoyment of any story with one main character hinges almost completely on how much the viewer/player likes the character, and I admit I'd probably like the story a lot more if he was less needy like the Gates partmer. I think it'd be less of an issue in Gates since the non-partner characters were a lot more involved.

Agreed, I really liked Bidoof/Wigglytuff/Chatot but they barely got any screen time.

Emolga was awesome in Gates though.
