Fans have argued that if Ruby & Sapphire were to be remade, then so would FireRed & LeafGreen.

But Game Freak decided to circumvent that by giving players a Kanto starter early in X & Y.

As much as I love a good HOENN CONFIRMED thread, I'm going to be realistic.

R/S/E is supposed to have taken place around the same time as FR/LG and are the first games in the timeline. We know that HG/SS happened 3 years after FR/LG and D/P/Pt happened around the same time as HG/SS. B/W are said to have take place many years after D/P/Pt/HG/SS and B2/W2 take place 2 years after B/W. The technology in the Kalos region seems to be even more advanced than Unova's and mega evolutions have only been discovered now, so we can safely assume that X/Y take place after the events of B2/W2. This means that a Hoenn remake is highly unlikely due to the huge gap in technology that would be created between the games. This is why a Hoenn sequel is far more likely, and enough time has passed for new evil teams to have been created and the landscape to have changed.

I always thought the reason Hoenn would be remade, if ever, would be because it's the only region that's no available on the DS, and thus would require 3 generations of console to transfer Pokemon over. It's just not reasonable to expect kids (you know, the target demographic), to have 3 consoles.

I could actually really see this being the last game in the series. Just kind of the way everything's happening, megaevolutions are there to fill in for pokemon with no evolutions, even getting the Kanto starters before the main game is finished.
