Only if more NPCs have their pokemon out as well, otherwise it looks out of place. In HG/SS I felt like I was running around yelling "HEY GUYS I'M SPECIAL"

They also havent shown any shiny pokemon, doesnt mean it's not in X and Y.
Did they even advertise the fact you can have your pokemon walk by your side in Heart Gold and Soul Silver?

I doubt they will use it in the same way HGSS did, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it in specific areas, like Amity Park in DP. I hope that's the case because they've probably already created walking/running animations for all pokemon for when they use attacks, so it's not like it would require a ton of work to implement.

And honestly, that system was silly.
I don't want to be forced to have a pokemon outside of a pokeball, let alone make it the first poekmon in my party. If they ever bring it back, I hope it is an option in the list with summary and hm/other out of battle abilities.
