I'm not trying to hate, up until this point I was damn near loving everything I heard about Gen VI. I even really like that rabbit fellow. But, am I alone when it comes to thinking mega evolutions is entirely stupid? I've never been one to just flat out not like an idea in a Pokemon game, besides like stupid shit like dressing up your Pokemon or tickling it, I even fully welcomed our new Fairy type overlords.

But mega evolutions is retarded. Am I wrong?

I thought about, thought about how stupid it seemed, tried to come up with justifications for it (It's a new area, the future, etc), and in the end you know what?

I realized I didn't give a single fuck anyways and its just a fun new element in my game about battling monsters. Especially in a game with evolutions, alt forms, evolving through stones/items, and inanimate objects being pokemon, why is this any more unbelievable?

Well, they bring several problems to the table. Several of them are ugly or badly designed, they're clearly a gimmick and not something useful to regular gameplay, they appear to be inflating the number of event pokemon by quite a bit (if it's true that most of them will only be obtainable that way) and we've seen at least one case where we got one instead of a standard evolution for something that could use one (mawile).

On the other hand, they seem to be little more than form changes and are balanced somewhat by taking up an item slot. They look like they're going to be a fairly unimportant feature the way they're implemented, so you can skip over using them.

That's partially my issue with them. Another is that after all this time, THIS is how they settle the Kangaskhan thing.

Also, I was never a "we Digimon now" guy but, we Digimon now.

They're a little silly but give a way for shitty fully evolved pokemon to shine. Even Charizard won't be useless now. I'll likely just only mega evolve my starter, just because your first Pokemon should be your best.
