They would have to add IVs and EVs in Gen 1 and 2 games. If I think it would be rather easy for Gen 2, while still annoying, it would definitely be a pain in the ass in Gen 1. They would also have to add the Special split because of IVs and EVs.

They could easily update some of the broken mechanics, such as wrap, crits, ohko moves and IVs/EVs and PID values to allow trading to modern games without taking the feel of the originals away.

The IV/EV change would probably be hardest honestly, but then, they already have code for the new kind.

You can't move from Gen II to gen III.

So you can't do Crystal-> Ruby etc

Everything from R/S onwards can be moved up though

Maybe not RBY/GSC, but everything from gen 3 up could go all the way up to X/Y.
Gen 3 = pokepark => Gen 4 = poketransfer => Gen 5 = pokebank => Gen 6
So you could get stuff from RSE to Gen 6 if you really wanted to.

I know it's 90% nostalgia speaking but I love Silver. Mostly because it was my first Pokemon game but I would love a 3D Classic version on the eShop. Would be kickass.
