I think the idea is that the Champion forms of digimon are fully grown (they're even called Adult in Japan), but only the final forms of pokemon can be called that. That being said, the mega forms of pokemon would then correlate to the Ultimate forms of digimon, so it still wouldn't make sense.

Not in Dusk/Dawn. Budmon gets both Rosemon and Lotusmon, leaving the Tanemon tree with zero Megas unless you delve into fusion. That's a hassle in and of itself.

They kinda put things back on track in Lost Evolution by putting Lotusmon on the Tanemon tree and letting Lillymon warp over to Rosemon if certain requirements were met.

It's the one of the most reliable lines with a guaranteed cool Mega in the games. You always have access to Betamon -> Seadramon -> Megaseadramon -> Metalseadramon/Gigaseadramon so I always find myself getting a Betamon when I play the games. Tentomon's line just ends with Megakabuterimon and Geogreymon ends with Risegreymon in the first DWDS for example.

My friend was overjoyed to hear Absol might have a chance to become useful it won't though, I really don't get the hate for these. Only thing I don't like is giving Pokémon like the previously mentioned Absol and Mawile a Mega Evolution instead of giving them an actual evolution. This also stucks them forever as Pokémon without evolutions, since it looks like only fully evolved mons can mega evolve.

Really? I'd say it's simple.

1. Have Magic Card for Ritual Summon of monster
2. Play Magic Card
3. Tribute monsters so you can reach it's level or higher
4. Summon monsters

It's just Tribute Summoning with a Magic Card thrown in.

I hate Ritual Summons though, you can spend a whole match with something like Black Luster Soldier in your hand, only to never Summon it.

My biggest beef with Digimon's system is indeed that two different digis can digivolve to the SAME digi. That doesn't make sense even lore wise. It's even caused things that really burn me up, like Lalamon stealing Palmon's Mega. I find the retcons caused by that new game based on Adventure to be amusing, though. I have for a long time gotten the sense that what used to be the canon Megas for them were changed to ones that made better sense. Since Digimon is so flexible, I just took it on the matter that it was a personal preference. Now they made it canon and it causes all sorts of havoc when you remember the third movie clearly showed Magnadramon as Gatomon's Mega. I'm okay with it because like I said, I prefer Vikemon to be Gomamon's Mega and Ophanimon as Gatomon's. (for reference, I probably should say Salamon, but everyone knows that line by Gatomon)

I actually prefer Digimon to be simplistic over all the complexity it has. One of the reasons I hated the armor forms is that it created way too many branches on something that already had more natural branches. The DNA digivolves would also end up giving dead ends to stuff that should've still had their own line. Granted, there are more DNA forms now that DO keep the individual lines as well, but they never fixed the earlier ones. Then again, Xros digivolving has pretty much made that moot, but I like to pretend none of that exists. I guess I'm the same with Digimon as I am with Pokemon. I will openly defy canon if it does not make sense to me. True, little with Digimon DOES make sense, and I can understand why digivolution works the way it does, but I find it to be more a relic of the tamagotchi than anything. I just like it to be simple.

That's why I think it was created, to retcon the Mega to make better sense. On another note, they are really good at their research, because they have used nearly every kind of angel in the ancient christian hierarchy. (which was based on the Jewish one) There is only one they haven't done yet, though. I sorta doubt if they will. It would mean there would be 7 mega level angels to counter the 7 demon lords, although I will also agree that it wouldn't really counter Lucemon.

If they wedged in Nefertimon between Gatomon and Angewomon, there'd be a half-decent bridge between "cat" and "angel". It's not like they're doing all that much with Armor forms as it is.

There's also D'arcmon -> Angewomon -> Ophanimon. Dog -> Angelic Joan of Arc -> another angel girl -> Ophanim is a little bit more sensible, perhaps?

The Principalities, or Rulers. We already have the Seraphim, Ophanim, Cherubim, Dominions (Dominimon), Virtues (ClavisAngemon, and Powers (SlashAngemon). The Archangels and regular angels are also already represented by the Ultimate and champion forms.

Not even I am consistent on what names I use, except for the state names, which I definitely use the English ones. For certain Digimon, though, sometimes I'll use the English name, sometimes I won't. There are some English names that I just find too awkward and the JP is better. There is one instance where I use a now retconned English name because I don't like the current one that replaced it.

Characters powering up in battle has been a staple of anime (and sentai series) for the longest time. Dragon Ball had a lot of that happening, and that's the art style all the nostalgia fags like. The people screaming Digimon have probably only watched one or two anime outside of Pokemon.
