Can this really happen?
Like, can a Pokemon really refuse to be released?

I never saw it happen, but then again, I only release pokemon I got out of breeding that I won't be using.

in plat. i completed the pokedex and had one pokemon for each dex number (i.e. pichu, pikachu, and a raichu, instead of just the raichu) just for collection reasons. that's 493 plus a few extras (different formes). In addition to my actual pokemon for battle use/breeding, yeah,i reached 540. it's not really an unthinkable sort of thing.

I hadn't played a Pokemon game in years nor did I pay much attention to the series back when the first Mystery Dungeon was released and just randomly picked it up a few weeks after it was released because I liked the idea of being the Pokemon.
I basically exspected a story with the dephts of a normal Pokemon game.

The closest I ever got was Gates to Infinity. All it really did anyway though was get me a bit choked up.

All the characters in Rescue Team were incredibly flat and barely any of the Explorers characters were particularly likable. Doesn't help that the backstory in Explorers just made it way harder to try to self-insert as my character.

Rescue Team is pure excuse plot and paper thin characters bar one in particular, who's still pretty flat.

Explorers and Gates are both okay story wise, Explorers is generally more liked in the core story and Gates in the depths of the characters. Neither is still particularly good story wise despite the praise, though that's what happens when you go in expecting total shit and get anything but.

I didn't cry, but was close. I didn't like Gen 5 much, but I gotta say it brought out emotions I haven't shown since Red and Blue Rescue team. Lots of feels.
