Gen 4 was easily forgettable. Besides, didn't you have to backtrack more times during the whole Team Galactic bullshit at the lakes? At least in Gen 3, you only back tracked once to fight Norman and then the game moved forward.

Except when the submarine is stolen in Slateport. And when (in Emerald) you have to go to Magma's volcano lair. And when (again in Emerald) you have to go to Sky Pillar then back to Sootopolis.
