What if Orotto is used as the poster child for a new evolution mechanic where Pokemon have evil and good evolutions.

Bonsly's Good evolution could be Sudoowodo and it's evil evolution could be Orotto

I like the idea, but I can't see GameFreak giving a reward for mistreating pokemon because of the whole marketed to children and cruelty to actual animals thing.

Then again, Frustration exists, so I might be completely wrong.

I don't think Orotto evolves from Bonsly, but the idea of having split evolutions based on good or bad treatment is an awesome idea.

Not necessarily mistreating them, but like the opposite of Happiness levels.

A Pokemon losing battles a lot, not being healed as much because you're focused on traveling and what not, and not teaching a Pokemon moves it wants to learn could give it points values that could make it evolve into its Evil Wolution

Maybe it could work like chao did in the Sonic Adventure games. You could feed them certain things, or perhaps (and this is a LONGSHOT) you can take a more evil disposition, as a character, which would rub off on your Pokemon. I mean, we're already seeing a ton of customization things, and morality choices are becoming a common trope in videogames, lately. Perhaps Pokemon will follow suit.

Why is it that every time a new Pokémon gets revealed and it has just ONE little similarity to an older Pokémon, people have to connect it to that Pokémon. It's like with Tauros and Bouffalant/Luvdisc and Alomomola. There are animals that exist that are similar. I guess Leopards and Jaguars being separate pisses you all off.

Yes, there are animals that exist that are similar. However, you have failed to remember that evolution in the pokemon world, and evolution in the real world is somewhat different, yet the same. Think about it. Why are there similar animals in the real world? Because they evolved from the same animal (a good most of the time).

It is strange that Orotto hasn't been revealed, despite clearly having been shown in those movie theatre/TV advertisements.

Makes me think there's some kind of hidden quirk to it.

Yes and said animal is either extinct or mixed with the other animals to the point where they became irrelevant. That's the same with Pokémon, evident by the Pikachu clones. They shared an ancestor and scattered over the world, developing their own traits. Same goes for Tauros and Bouffalant.

That would be nice. But Orotto isn't the Pokémon for that. Just accept that there are going to be similar Pokémon akin to how there are similar lagomorphs and primates.

I think he means that Orott hasn't been officially revealed, yet. It's the only new Pokemon where somebody hasn't gone, "Hi, I'm a very important person and look at how amazing this new pokemon is". It just kind of showed up during a trailer, and wasn't even announced or anything.

You're thinking of panthers, which are melanistic large cats like jaguars and leopards. Jaguars and leopards are different species and live in different areas, they just both happen to be large, spotted cats.

it'd be hilarious if they didn't reveal it at all. then when you run into it in the wild and try to use a fire type attack on it it isn't super effective.

It pulls another Sudowoodo and is pure Ghost type.

The joke with Sudowoodo was that it resisted fire attacks and cut though, while being weak to the exact opposite of what you would want to use against a grass type (Water and ground)

Pure Ghost wouldn't mean shit. Inkay and Malimar are both non-water squids too.

Out of all the new pokes Orotto is by far my least favorite.
I always wanted a Ghost Tree and they fucked it up
Besides Litleo I love the other new guys.
