Why even have this timeline at all? I mean i can undestand gen 2 being after gen1 letting you see how kanto shook out and B/W2 obviously being after B/W.

But what does having gen1 and 3 being at the same time and 4 being after actually mean or add to anything.

I mean in terms of RSE it could have taken place 1000 years after RBY for all it mattered to the plot.
