How can we improve me /vp/?

With those in mind, how can we make me better or more bearable to watch?

W/e you do the fact that he's never allowed to win a league pretty much means he'll never actually improve.

I mean let's say he get's Top 4 again, or even Top 2 at one point. He's not allowed to win a league, so in the BEST case scenario he'll just keep getting Top 2 over and over and over and over again. But being more realistic he'd probably fluctuate between rankings going from Top 4--->Top 8---->Top 2---->Top 16, etc.

So in short, there's nothing that can really be done to make him better given the writers limits on him.

The problem there is that the Champion League exists when you win the League tourney, so there's still E4 and the Champ to deal with. That's not mentioning that "Pokemon Master" has had a more grey definition over time, so it can't just be about winning every major battle.

Even if the writers did make him manage to make it to the Champion League, he'd just end up losing to one of the members..while perhaps putting on a decent showing, but then he'd go to the next region and keep losing to also-ran trainers, or ones that don't have nearly as much experience as he does.

In short the writers, probably knowingly, wrote themselves into a corner and couldn't really care less about writing out of it.

The writers have it in their heads that Ash winning any sort of league, other than the shitty, side-leagues, means he's become a Pokemon master.

If he even gets close to winning, like in DP, the writers create an asinine reason for him losing.

you'd be switching it from "he'll always lose, it's not worth watching" to "he'll always win so it's not worth watching"

also, he was talking about what the writers think/do, not what he thinks they can/can't do

Honestly I think the best hope for Ash would be him acting as a mentor to a younger trainer as they go and collect gym badges. Kind of like he and May's relationship in Hoenn.

I could see that happening in the Kalos arc, tbh. He looks a bit older, and if his traveling companions are the in-game rivals, then they're going to look really young compared to him. It could work.

Aren't you normally suppose to at least allow your mascots to be successful?

I mean having him fail at leagues, just so kids can go out and pretty easily do the things he can't is a pretty pitiful exsistence.
