Because the only time the word "overdesigned" is ever used is when it's in reference to Pokemon. Plus, when it is used there's often a comparison to Digimon.

Both words together is almost certainly someone complaining about Pokemon. Digimon doesn't really give a shit.

This. Pokemon fans are the only people who get pissed off if something is "overdesigned". And they use it so often, as if they aren't allowed to like a Pokemon with a slightly complex design.

It makes slightly more sense if you look at the page the image come from.
The guy who posted the image said "This is an actual gen 6 pokemon, do you REALLY think it is over-designed ?
Every generation has over designed pokemon, stop ******** about that. "
