This is just dumb . Thick fat aggron doesn't help it at all if it's steel/dragon type. It just makes neutral damage into not very effective damage. It would need levitate or solid rock or a buffed version of solid rock to actually get good.

Considering how much they're plugging mega evolutions, I highly doubt they're going to be consumable. If they are, then there will probably be a way to easily farm them.

Also I doubt they'd be banned in multiplayer battles. If anything, they'll probably be underpowered. A big part of what makes a Pokemon good is unpredictability. Mega evolving is basically telling your opponent "hey, I don't have a choice item/life orb, so go ahead and play accordingly". They might be useful for whatever the Battle Frontier/Subway equivalent is, though.

Weather summoners are expected to switch in and out constantly. Neither Pokemon can do that when stealth rock is out on the field. The only use Mega Charizard will see are in 4v4 doubles metagmaes where switching and stealth rock aren't as common.

You're right, Mega weather starters won't be used as the sole weather inducer on weather teams.

However, having an innate 50% damage boost for one of your STABs + reducing a weakness by 50% is a pretty major boost.

Drought will make them better [Volcarona can only improve with Drought, and Charizard only loses, what, uselessly niche Blaze or the cannot-justify-use-in-NU Solar Power?], esp. with the auto weather boost.

This is true, and I didn't mean to imply that it was a downgrade or anything, but some people seem to think that Drought is going to make Mega Charizard top tier or something when really that's not the case. Rereading my post though, including Volcarona in there was dumb on my part since it's already top tier to begin with, and as you pointed out, Drought can really only make it better unless you want to run a more defensive set with Leftovers and Flame Body.
