First playthrough will be only Kalos starters. If this pokemon bank works like I think it is, I'll put most mons from first play through and extra kanto starters in there and then restart game after and choose whatever the hell i want next run through.

I understand what you mean, this game is meant to get you to try out new Pokemon and I don't really want to use older Pokemon in this playthrough, but dammit you can get 3 starters in one game before you beat the Elite Four and they will probably all have Megas. That's pretty cool, and I can't resist it.

What gives you that impression?

They haven't said anything of the sort, unlike B/W where they outright stated they wanted to have a whole new experience when it came to the pokemon you encountered.

We've been seeing old pokemon all over the place in footage. It's going to be another mixed dex.

I meant basically any game with new Pokemon is meant to get you to try the older ones. You always had the option to use older Pokemon until then, but for each new generation there are over 100 new Pokemon that they created for a reason.

Yes, they aren't outright saying it, but they do encourage the use of Pokemon through other ways, such as making it so you can't transfer Pokemon until the end of 2013 (December 27th).
