>>13723492Basically when a competitive franchise gets new shit added that outclasses old shit. I'm not sure why OP included Feraligatr though. He never really was a good Pokemon, competitively speaking.
Pic related. This fucker right here was pretty much the Garchomp of RBY, without the banning. Perfect move coverage, high attack and speed for its time, and the rest of its stats aren't too shabby.
But later gens weren't too kind to him. Gen 2 introduced steel-types like Skarmory and Forretress who could wall him all day and he couldn't do shit about it. Gen 3 introduced better physical sweepers like Salamence who were more versatile and could fuck up Skarmory/Forretress, and Gens 4&5 not only continued outclassing him by adding more powerful physical sweepers like Garchomp and Excadrill, but also gave huge buffs to the Fighting-type, making it much harder for him to switch in.
He didn't get too many buffs throughout the gens either. Gen 2 made him worse by weakening Hyper Beam, Gen 3 gave him Intimidate which is cool but Salamence does it better, Gen 4 gave him Anger Point which is really gimmicky, and Gen 5 gave him Sheer Force which is really good but still doesn't help him get up to snuff.
You'll always be top tier in my heart ;-;
