Nigga, Hoothoot do not suck after the third gym. It have nice stats and can live pretty long.

Hoothoot since he has a lot of interesting utility to keep him relevant when the rest of the team start pulling away in conventional roles.

Though to be honest Swellow specced right will absolutely wreck some serious shit and Staraptor stays solid even with just level up moves.

Though Starly doesn't look that bad and with Return, Brave Bird and Close Combat he is great during the whole game. Hell, it was pretty easy to solo the game with him (provided you used your starter to beat Roark).

This is the only early route bird that I've ever bothered using for the entire game. Taillow's okay and pidgey can do pretty well, but both of them don't have incredibly good movepools and they're terrible against the first gyms of each of their generations. Pidove a shit and I like noctowl, I just don't like using him for anything other than Colosseum.

Pidove is like Flareon with wings. Seriously, what the shit is that natural movepool of his.

I managed to make it useful during the game with Return, Aerial Ace, Work Up and Roost, but otherwise he'd be useless.

My favorite bird overall though and second favorite overall is Braviary. I didn't even put it together that he was red, white, and blue and also an eagle. But I still love him. Simple.

If not, Starly. And it can carry on through the whole game, not just til the third gym.
Pidove is the worst, only because of male Unfezant. Otherwise it'd be fine.
