I thinking lack a lot of empathy if you don't see how an entire nation was affected by nearly three thousand people. Many could only watch in terror as these things unfolded, wondering what was next. Your fellow man was dying right before your eyes. It's traumatic. It's sobering to think that you are no longer safe in your country, that people are killing your fellow countryman because they are American, just like you.
Far too often in our world, people forget how to be empathic, to feel for those who lose their lives everyday. Some say it's simply because Man is selfish, and if that is true, why should we so easily resign to this natural apathy? Because it's easier than caring?
Ask not for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee.
