Poison needs a buff, fighting needs a nerf.

They wont do it though be way to much of a shake up even with adding in a new type.

I think the problem isn't just typing (though ice and grass need help). I think move distribution is much worse. If Stealth Rock, Earthquake, Rockslide, (etc) were more limited like Drought and Drizzle viability for ice, fire, as well as many other types may see some play.

This. Not every damn physical attacker needs to get Rock Slide and Earthquake. I also think some moves need to get nerfed, like Close Combat needs harsher penalties, get its BP reduced, or just removed from the game period.

I think the only type that intrinsically needs a buff is Poison. Ice would benefit more from Rock Slide/Stone Edge being limited and Close Combat being weaker. It's actually a pretty good offensive type.
