the bad weakness to fairy is only a small portion of the problem, the main issue is the fact that fairies resist both of its STABs

when you have pokemon like latios and salamence available I can easily see hydreigon losing relevance

And? It doesn't matter that it's not as strong as Fire Blast. It covers a 4x weakness, has decent enough power, and hits a a type that it can't hit with its STABs, Hydreigon will use it regardless.

It's best set is the mixed wallbreaker with Fire Blast, Draco Meteor, and Superpower that can take out any wall due to being 120 BP+ with good attacking stats. Flash Cannon won't do shit to Sylveon and friends.

Fairy is underrated as an attacking type. A ton of dual types will have impeccable coverage. It'll be the new fighting type if given some decently powerful moves.

I agree. Steel is probably the biggest threat against it defensively. Fire switching in resisting it isn't bad for Fairy because of sneaky pebbles.

On the other hand Poison gets a massive buff it deserves so we might see a few more Poison types in teams.

Hidden Power is weaker than Flash Cannon but that doesn't stop pokemon from using it for coverage anyway. If a pokemon needs the coverage that badly its going to use a move that helps it no matter what it is.
