>>13754573That's the thing; at lower levels, rain teams will feature mostly water types, Pokémon like Scizor or Ferrothorn that benefit from the weakened fire, and things like Thundurus and Gastrodon that are good at fighting opposing water types. Same goes for trick room teams; loads of slow Pokémon, maybe with one or two fast things for when trick room runs out.
But good players won't rely on it; they'll try to have as diverse a team as they can that benefits from the 'theme' without relying on it. Watch any worlds match, and you're likely to see some weather or trick room, with just one or two Pokémon that benefit it. A more important use of those is that the opponent suffers from it.
For instance, at last year's worlds I ran a sun team where the only Pokémon that explicitly benefitted from sun was a Typhlosion with Eruption and Solarbeam; Rhyperior appreciated the weakened water attacks, but overall it wasn't a 'sun' team, but when you're facing a Politoed+Kingdra, Drizzle+Swift Swim lead, sun becomes bloody useful.
