Wrong Ice was the go to counter for Dragon besides another Dragon. Now that Fairy exist it really has no use.

Ice types are now completely redundant

The only reason people packed ice moves was for Dragons and now Fairies do that job much better

Nobody used Ice pokemon to beat dragons, because no Ice types can switch in on a dragon. Hell, being an Ice type was enough to justify putting a 'trio' legendary in UU and it's upgrade in OU.

That's true. Ice coverage is just about the best you could hope for, as it's debatably the best offensive type in the game. It's still the only type to hit Dragonite, Salamence and Garchomp 4x Super Effective, and you'll still struggle to find any OU team that doesn't have any ice weaknesses.

The only reason Ice wouldn't go away is perhaps Steel making a rise since Fairy is weak to it, but then Ice/Water mons like Cloyster would still be neutral to Steel.

Bug kind of needs a nerf. Besides the crappy early-game things, bug has so many hideously overpowered things, like Scizor, Volvarona and Genesect, that really need to be less... good...
The bug type isn't inherently bad, it just tends to be associated with crappy Pokémon. Give it to a Pokémon with good movepool and stats, and it becomes a wrecking ball.

No one wants to be ice type. It's a redundant STAB and horrible defensive type.

Their overpoweredness has nothing to do with Bug type, aside from the fact it makes them resistant to Fighting type, which has been the best type for two gens running.

Especially Volcarona, who would be absolute trashcan if Quiver Dance didn't exist.

The bigger appeal of ice moves is that it's 4x effective against many of the common dragon types in the game, which more than makes up for its non-STAB users.

Plus, it's handy for the odd flying, grass and ground type too.

Skill Link+Icicle Spear+Balk/Focus Sash Cloyster might be the only thing to benefit from Ice STAB. And even then it's not thanks to the STAB itself, but the ridiculous boost from Shell Smash.

Ice is a great coverage type, but STAB is mostly redundant and all the other jazz that's negative about the type.

Sure, offensively the type is great, and Ice CAN be fragile IRL, but if it would at least resist Water, we'd have it balanced to the point of usability.

There are 167 Normal moves so far and probably more to come.
I'm sure we can find good ones to combine with Freeze Skin, suitable for some sort of Brachiosaurus/Diplodocus.

And sadly, not many of those are special-based, which that guy will most likely be based on (since there's no way a TREX wouldn't hit like two trucks).
Maybe it will learn Hyper Voice which is good enough, I guess. It all depends on how big the ability bonus is.
