Is the middle forms affecting what starter you were planning on picking?
I was set on chespin, but now I'm a little unsure.

Twisted fire starter

It's a shame that people will dismiss a pokemon just because of how others might interpret it, or the reasons that others might appreciate it.

Yes, the seven year old playing pokemon for the first time will probably choose the fire starter, because fire seems like a more powerful element than water or grass.
Yes, pokephiles and furries will make R34 of feminine/canine pokemon.
That doesn't mean you should automatically hate fennekin! The witch concept is super cool and fennekins basic stage is super cute.

Decided Chespin on day one, and I'm sticking with it despite being somewhat dissapointed. Not that there's much to disappoint for me when I had no expectations anyway, I seriously couldn't think of any way Chespin could've evolved and not look like shit or uninspired. I still have hope though for a decent final evolution. But if we see the final evolutions before release, and it turns out total shit, I may change my mind.

Fennekin's evolution though is amazing, I'm almost tempted to pick it instead. I like Froakie, but I don't care for the evolution much at all.

I usually follow the order of Water-Grass-Water-Grass-etc, not by choice it just happens.
I've liked Chespin from the start, and I'm not about ot give up on him just now. The fact he looks bulky and knows wood hammer means he could be a pretty good Torterra 2.0 (Torterra's still great though).
At first I was deterred and was drawn towards Froakie's evo, but Chespn's is growing on me.

tl;dr? I'm still choosing Chespin because trainer-pokemon bonds are more than just appearance.

But charmeleon to charizard was pretty different

And Dewott to Samurott

That's about it so slim chance. Though the whole chestnut theme might allow it to pop out and become awesome. If not fuck it I had Fennekin as my original first choice either way.

Actually it's caused me to lean towards Chespin. I've been set on Fennekin since day 1, but man, Fatspin is so funny. And while I don't hate Fennekin's evolution, I don't like it as much as Fennekin.

It's all up to the final evos at this point.

i picked chespin since day 1 back in january, and im still picking him to this day, i dont care if he's fat, i somehow knew it was gong to be fat since the traliers and all the shit, he was the slowest of all of them and rollout seemed like a clue, even if his final has shitty stats but defense (mostly happening) even if it has way more retarded face (thi i doubt) im still pikcing him.

Not because I like him (I do), but because he has the potential to fail and it's a little exciting to make the choice knowing it could blow up in my face. I'm contemplating avoiding new information from this point on so that I don't have that spoiled.

Though my starter of choice in Gen 1 is Bulbasaur, I've always been a fire guy, because fire starters always had the broest starters of all time.

Charizard is a bit overhyped, but he's a pretty awesome pokemon.

Typhlosion is the broest of them all and we go waaaay back. I mean really what's more awesome than a pissed off badger that erupts flames from his back when he's pumped up and ready to go?

Torchic went through a rough road of bad evo's to get to the light at the end of the tunnel, but holy shit did that light shine bright, turning him into a badass fighting fire chicken who beat the shit out of all the other crap starters in gen 3.

Infernape is a monkey with a torch for a head, do I really have to say anything?

But then disaster struck. All the starters for Gen V were terrible, and the fire starter was that god awful pig. So for the first time since Cyndaquil vs Totodile I had to make a real decision. In the end I chose the ugly otter because at least it evolved into something cool.

But then this generation came, and while I was depressed by the fact that now they have completely abandoned the fire starter being the cool one, I saw a new hope. I saw a cute rambunctious little guy with leaves on his head who looked like he was ready to fuck shit up on whim. It took me a while to get used to the new designs, but 15 minutes later I knew this was my guy. Fennekin was beautiful but way too compact and Froakie looked ugly. This. Was. My Guy.

But now I see Chespins new form... and im at a loss. I'm gonna stay hopeful to my bro til the last reveal... but if it's still really bad, I guess I might just get the witch.
