I know what you mean. I can understand wanting to get rid of a few of Steel's resistances, although it's kind of suspicious that it just happens to be both types that give Psychic a lot of problems.

I would've thought that Psychic had been beat into the floor enough over the last two gens, but it looks like they still want to kick it around some more.

boo fucking hoo, it gains two weaknesses (both of which aren't common attacking types in OU). it's still got great attack and defence, its STAB gets better coverage now thanks to fairy being a thing, and it's still resistant to dragon. all this means is that it gets less bulk, so you swap choice band with choice scarf to give it extra speed and then all you have to worry about is sucker punch which you can just switch to avoid

I could understand Ghost, and it makes sense for a ghost to pass through something metal. But Dark attacks like Bite and Crunch bypassing Steel? I don't get it.

Tbh, Metagross doesn't lose that much. It could be easily compensated by finnally getting Iron Fist as well as some additional moves.

But in turn it's weak to Gengar who will see a massive rise in usage because it can do Super Effective Damage with Shadow Ball and carry something that isn't Focus Blast in it's Fourth Slot
Also Sludge Bomb makes it a better Fairy Killer than most Steel Types who aren't named Scizor

exactly, if. IF. at the moment we've had exactly one new ghost type introduced (two if we're counting oorotto, which could end up grass/dark). the only good attacking ghost at the moment is gengar, which still isn't going to survive a STAB psychic. it'll have to carry either a scarf or a focus sash to properly counter scarfed metagross, and if it gets a mega (which some leaks hve suggested is the case) then it won't be able to have either of those things

Almost every Dragon out there managed just fine for the last 15 years with a 4x weakness to Ice. All Metagross is getting is a 2x weakness to two easily-countered types.

Besides, it's got plenty of bulk, and ridiculous attack. It even gets Hammer Arm to take care of Dark-types. With the right team support, Metagross has nothing to worry about.

Shift Gear is really all it needs, being able to punch the shit out of Fairies and lightspeed would be awesome, and with Clear Body you don't need to worry about losing boosts to Intimidate. Sheer Force and Iron Fist would be great DW abilities but GF hates joy.

Close Combat doesn't make any fucking sense.
